2 Tool XL - Nozzle Cleaning Failed / trouble loading filament

After several successful prints, I started getting a "Nozzle Cleaning Failed" message. At first I could fix it by unloading and reloading the filament, or purging the filament several times until filament started to come out.  But now I can't load filament at all.  All I get are clicking sounds.

How to I open the tool head to inspect/adjust it? It's hard to believe the nozzle is jammed already.

Tool head #2 works fine.

I am printing with the original roll of prusament PLA that came with the printer.

Front of Nextruder involved you will see at the top a cam latch that can be pushed up to release the entire front cover of the Nextruder.

Had this problem today several times. The reason seemed that a little blob of filament was at the nozzle tip. After cleaning the nozzle, the problem was gone.

Thanks for that. I opened the front and there's a small piece of filament jammed in there. I tried unloading it, but it wouldn't come out.  So I pulled with some tweezers and got some of it out. But now there is a small piece jammed too low for me to reach.  It won't unload, and I can't load new filament to push it through. Now I guess I need to figure out how to disassemble the tool head?

When I encountered this problem I moved the head to the front and  Tuned the Nextruder temperature to the filament type, fished out as much old filament as I could, then fed the spooled filament past the toothed wheel. Closed and latched the Nextruder gate. Then selected Load from the menu and have the spooled filament and bit of a gentle push as the filament fed into the hot end. That solved my issue.

I've tried that a few times, but the extruder just makes a clicking noise.  It's jammed. I need to open it and clear it out. It'd be nice Prusa tech support would chime in and tell me how to do that.

I had the same issue yesterday. A small debris of filament was the problem. Have a close look at the bottom of the extruder gear after you opened the front extruder latch. As I was not sure if the nozzle or the extruder caused the problem, I changed/swapped the nozzle first. The problem was still there. So it was the extruder. Then I noticed the small filament debris. After removal, everything was OK again and I could print without further problems.

The debris is unreachable from the front. When I try to fish an acupuncture needle through and down into the nozzle, it's jammed. On the other extruder, it makes it through.

This YouTube might give you an idea of what to do next.

Thanks for that. Success, with one caveat.

As you can see in the pic, there was a piece of filament jammed in the tube. I took that out and then tried to reassemble, but I could not get the nozzle back in. It just wouldn't thread in without me applying WAY too much pressure.

So instead, I installed the supplied nextruder adapter, which went in fine. Then I installed a spare 0.6mm nozzle from my mk3s. It was a fully brass nozzle and I think it was a little tougher and was able to cut the threads in.

So now I am wondering, what's the advantage to using the supplied longer nozzles? It seems WAY easier to replace a mk3s style nozzle and they're super cheap.

I am currently printing a test model and everything is smooth.

When using the adapter you must tighten it while hot or else you risk a leaky hotend and/or a loose nozzle which provides a perfect environment for "The Blob of Death".  With the one piece nozzle design, this is a non-issue.

Well, I retightened the nozzle after heating it up and got maybe a 1/16th of a turn more. I'll keep an eye out for leaks. I guess I can retry inserting the original nozzle now that my brass nozzle has hopefully loosened up the threads.
