XL Enclosure - Hotend fan test failes after upgrading hotend with PCCF parts
Hi there,
after installing the XL enclosure and modifying the hotends with the new PCCF parts, the fan test was reproducibly aborted with an error on all 5 hotends. After reading about fan problems several times (including MK4S), I didn't find a solution and tried it myself:
1. Screws loosened -> no solution, the test was successful on a hotend, but not every time
1b. Self-test on a hotend without screws (held by hand) -> no solution, self-test fails.
2. Fan shroud removed from PCCF -> all 5 hotends immediately have a successful fan test
3. Attempt to mount the old PETG fan shroud -> all 5 hotends have a successful fan test
4 The PCCF parts were reassembled and the self-test was no longer carried out.
Then I looked for differences between the PETG and PCCF parts. They exist, but they are minimal!!! (PCCF at the front, PETG at the back)
The opening of the PCCF part is slightly smaller.
I now leave the system with the fakeed self-test and no longer carry out a fan test. Set up: XL 5T, partially assembled (Hotend with silicone socks) XL enclosure
Anyone having the same problem? Are there real fixes to this problem.

I had the same problem with my stock XL when I got it a year or so ago, no enclosure. Had to to remove all the shrouds to get a good self test. Here in Colorado we lack air due to being at 7,000' elevation. Not sure if that has anything to do with the self test being excessively sensitive & causing issues. But it's not just related to new shrouds & the enclosure.
