Ummm, so… anyone have one yet?

So, I know I put my deposit for a multihead unit 6 weeks after the initial launch date, and got an email that the multi head would ship in July….

I was expecting maybe something in August or September….

I noticed the multihead instructions are not out yet so…. Still not shipping yet???

The five-tool assembled printers will follow in the week of July 24th

I find it strange that they don't ask users yet about switching orders?, I ordered the dual-tool semi assembled, on 18.nov, but want to swithc to five-tool semi assembled, but it seems like I have to wait for 31st July++ to be able two switch?

I would think it would be in their interest to know how many are switching this or that way to make sure they have components enough?

I wonder if Pre empting the switch offer with an email may be beneficial.

Prusa took notice of my emails when the MMU1 upgrade was first offered...   Yeah a long time ago... I am a dinosaur... Lol

You just have to ask them via chat. I switched mine just chatting with them two weeks ago and it only took a few minutes!

Switched from to?

I got answer through email: "The dual-tool semi-assembled printers will be ready in the week of July 31st., you can expect your switch email shortly after. The five-tool semi-assembled printers will be ready in the week of August 7th - that's when you'll be able to upgrade."

On the shipping page,. there are only the one head printers, and dual head assembled printer-orders that are allowed to switch so far. Maybe they have ideas behind this, but if I was working on this, I would know early how many orders that are going to get changed to accommodate for that under production.

But if it is similar as the mk4 orders, it seems to be insanely amounts of printers ordered the first day, so it will take lot of time (I ordered my mk4 kit april 12th 17:42, so I got that first july 3rd :), and I hear they still are shipping first day orders.. would be cool to hear the numbers 🙂

RE:

That is what I was trying to figure out.  Even first day orders could be weeks or months longer.  They really need to add an order number guidance as to when the units will ship.

I'm back up to $1300 that PRusa is holding for printers that will come 'sometime'.

$1,300 would you be the person who bought 10x XL in the spreadsheet?

Mk3 upgrade,  mmu3, and an XL,  off the top of my head.

Yes. I received my two-head assembled unit last Wednesday and am printing with it since yesterday. My pre-order was for partially assembled on the day of the announcement. So far, the print quality is excellent including perfectly smooth extrusion and perfect first layers. The toolhead change is very fast and the system automatically figures out when to cool down and then heat up during the print, so a docked head isn't sitting there "frying" the filament. There is clearly room to optimize firmware and software for multiple heads, but it isn't overly frustrating once I figured out how it works.

The amount of filament required to reach the nozzle is quite long. It is nice, though, that the filament is inclosed all the way to the head, helping to keep it dry if left in the printer. I run my dry box bodens directly into the insertion point on the side of the unit so the filament is fully contained. I am not using the spool holders provided.

How are your multi color prints out of the unit ? I have gone through 6 different rolls of PLA at varying temperatures and settings and can’t seem to find a sweet spot for a smooth good multi color print with out blobbing . If I do a single color one extruder print it flawless soon as I add a second color option with the second extruder it goes downhill .

No such issues. Using default Prusament settings for PLA. I've used Prusa's PLA combined with a silk PLA.

If you see the previous post Poor XL prints with Multi Tool you can just some of the issues . I’ve gone through now trying a dozen different rolls of filament and it’s always the same . Starting wonder if there’s an issue with the second extruder extruder assembly

Have you thought about rebuilding it?
