Tools keep crashing!

Please help, i am lost!

Suddenly I keep getting these crashes. I recalibrated each axis and also the stepping and tool parking. But it did not help.

Can this be a result of the latest slicer upgrade?

Lower, smaller prints do fine, such as benchy. I don't have an older higher print for testing. Using prusaslicer 2.9.0.

Or is it an mechanical issue?

But calibration does fine!

😭

Please help me!

RE: Tools keep crashing!

Don't have much to go off of other than the end result. Slicer update wouldn't cause this unless there's a bug in the gcode, which would have been more widespread.

If you have a failed print like that which failed fairly early on, retry and watch it until it actually fails. Something is happening to cause it to crash, most likely due to some collision with your print. Or, something else is happening, and there's no way to diagnose it unless you see it happen.

Does the tools crashes on the dock? Is it always on the same layer? Also if you print just a single instance of the object whats the result? It happens to me now and then. I dont know why. Even if I reslice the same object there is always a sudden layer shift (about 1mm) and the tool crashes when it tries to dock. If i slice a single instance of the object then the print finishes with no problems. If i continue the crashed print it print the whole thing but with 1mm layer shift were the crash happened. It seems that at some point a gcode sequence misaligned the head (at least in my cases)

It's not always the same layer, and the position of the head changes. I'm trying a single colour print now to double check.

Last print crashed, this was a multi colour, but it crashed before the first tool change and had 4offsets in the print.

Calibrated all docks again today which has not helped.

If it was the slicer the fails should all be at the same layer.

Okay I think it is the same layer maybe for the same print.

Last night I did 2 tests.

1: object plain, no colour change

2: same object with text modifier for colour change

1 printed perfectly

2 failed at the same spot as the night before at layer 3

Same extruder used!

So maybe software error after all?

What filament is that?

How are you drying it?

How are you cleaning your build sheet?

Save your project as a .3mf file

Files > Save Project as

Zip the .3mf and post it here. It will contain both your part and your settings for us to diagnose.

Cheerio,

I'd slow down your travel speeds - there doesn't appear to be a collision there - but it sounds like a load of missed steps.

Thanks for the hint, @defsdoor

Can you recomment travel speed settings? What max value should I put in?

I will try this tonight!

It is definitely not an issue of the filament, the sheet, or the print file. Since it was asked, I print straight out of dryboxes and clean with alcohol. Also neither filament nor a dirty sheet can cause the print head to jump like you see in the video.

Sometimes the print results are perfect, but most prints crash at some point. They don't crash at the same point. So it cannot be the print file.

RE: Tools keep crashing!

Hello
I have a similar problem, I don't know if it's since the sw update because I didn't use the xl before.
But the last time I used it it didn't do this.
The non-printing moves speed haven't changed as much as before.

@cyberpunk-0815 Did you figure something out?
Or does anyone have an idea?

Thank you
