Stock PLA profile for XL
How do you see the stock profiles for PLA for XL? Looks like to me that quite a lot of the profiles are far from optimal. For example, the stock profile for Amazonbasic PLA print first layer at 230oC and others are 220oC without retraction. That's way too high and would make hairy prints on any small features on the print. I lowered it to 195oC which is a reduction of 25oC, way above the normal 5-10oC changes I usually seen in stock profile. I recalled that even the Prusa MINIIS profile would not print at such high temperature. What's the reason behind for those stock profiles.
RE: Stock PLA profile for XL
Funny, I just came here to post about it. I'm using Inland PLA and the Stock/Generic PLA profile. I've done 6-7 prints, usually of multiple objects with probably a few hundred tool changes with out any problems. I did get one head crash, but it was after the print had finished (weird).
I too was surprised by the temp being that 'high'. But outside of cancelling the wipe tower, I'm using stock settings. I think I'm one firmware and a slicer version behind.
Whatever the temp, it seems to work. When I was moving from ASA to the PLA, it seemed like I did smoke a bit more than I expected, not sure of the temp.
