Prusa slicer with 5 head xl question

I thought I could find the answer so I now admit defeat and am asking the community for some help / guidance.

I have the newest slicer and firmware. I can print fine. What I do not like nor understand is how to stop or over ride Prusa slicer's insane filament colour section slicing. I hate having to edit 30+ parts the slicer decides to colour with random extruders. I would rather it was only colouring the entire model with extruder 1 and let me choose what and where I which to do the colouring (be in a paint brush or fit or even a part.

Thanks

Yes I am new to MMU style colour control.

If I understand correctly, you want to set all objects to a single extruder.  If this is the case, select all objects in the right pane or ctrl-A.  Then right click on the selection and in the resulting context menu select "Set extruder for selected items".

Yes you have hit the nail right on the head. I was close but no prize for me. I was selecting all but from the print bed side and there is no option to do as you said. Following your instructions and selecting all on the RIGHT side and tada there was the option.
Thank you you saved me a lot of time / frustration for me. This site has some great people willing to share knowlege! Appreciated.

Also, keyboard shortcuts really help. You can use the number keys for the extruder you want. So in your example, select all and then press 1 so all use extruder 1.

Well that is 2 things I learned today. Makes it a good one. I jumped from a MK3s right to a XL 5 head and while most things were very easy to pick up on the multi material / colours a bit of a curve. Thanks for the info! Trying to tackle Fusion 360 and OpenSCAD as well. Sure seemed it was a lot easier XX number of years ago.

Hi @asus1357,

If you simultaneously press Ctrl-A in the plate view it will select all objects.  Then right-click on the selection, again in the plate view, and the context menu will pop-up.  That is exactly what I did to get that screen shot.

Perhaps I need a new install of my Prusa slicer as I am NOT able to get that menu unless I select all from the right side and then from the right side I can see the menu with I access the menu. I am not nor have ever been able to see that selection in the plate view. Perhaps a small bug or installation quirk. Again I have a round about access to it now so thank you.
