Multiple Instances
Quick back story, I ran a print job in a 4-up configuration using the complete individual objects option. I clicked the auto arrange feature and let PrusaSlicer set the arrangement. Not paying attention, I sent the file over to the XL. As you can probably guess I had a head crash on the second instance because the layout wasn’t optimized for completing individual objects. Reading up on the subject I see that the printer expects individual objects to go from left to right, front to back. Why PrusaSlicer doesn’t optimize for this is beyond me, but that’s a topic for another day.
I reduced the number of instances and have been printing 3 at a time as you can see below. Things are working great.
My question, can I increase the number of instances as shown below without crashing the head? Remember these objects are all identical, 100mm diameter, 12mm high. Enough room to clear the gantry. PrusaSlicer says it can be done, but I don’t trust it anymore. 😄

After some test prints (cylinders in vase mode), I settled on a 5 instance print because that's the max I can fit at a time.
When I came down this morning this is what I saw.
Instance 4 printers correctly, but was then destroyed when the head went to print instance 5. This isn't the first time this has happened. for whatever reason the printer drops the head before traveling over to the new print location. As crazy as it sounds I think it has something to do with the Multilateral Paint function in the slicer. This afternoon I started a test print of what is basically shells of my instances in the 4, 5 position and those printed perfectly. I'm going to submit the files in Github and see what Prusa reports back. In the meantime anyone else have something like this happen to them?
