Feedback on PRUSA XL Firmware – A Call for Enhancement
Greetings to the community,
I recently received my PRUSA XL 3D printer and, while I'm largely impressed by its capabilities, I've identified a few aspects of its firmware that I believe require immediate attention.
Menu Options and Language Support: For a machine of this caliber and price range, I was surprised to find the menu options relatively underdeveloped. Furthermore, there seems to be a lack of language translations available, notably missing key languages such as Spanish, French, and German. A product in the €2000 range should at the very least provide comprehensive multilingual support.
Network Configuration Limitations: Another issue I came across was the inability to select a static IP or an alternative gateway other than what's provided by DHCP. This may be a minor concern for some, but it's crucial for users who require specific network setups.
I understand that every product can have initial teething problems, and some features might be rolled out progressively. However, considering the investment users make in purchasing the PRUSA XL, I believe we deserve a firmware that's more refined and not seemingly in a "BETA" phase.
Lastly, I genuinely hope PRUSA doesn’t resort to citing a shortage of developers as a reason for these oversights. This excuse, reminiscent of their previous explanation regarding the chip scarcity, is not befitting of a brand that commands such market respect.
Thank you for taking the time to read my feedback. I look forward to seeing improvements and engaging with fellow PRUSA XL users on their experiences.
Best regards,
