Extruder motor issue
FW 6.2.0-RC1 for XL
I installed the beta firmware that was supposed to reduce instances of the extruder stopping mid-print. However, on almost all the toolheads I’m getting the error “extruder motor is not spinning on tool.”
I reinstalled the older firmware version, which appears to be more stable in this regard.
RE: Extruder motor issue
I have a 5 head, and the extruder motor on toolhead 1 has never worked. If you load filament, nothing, the motor doesn't even come on. I'm just jumping on this thread to see if anyone may have a solution. It sounds like your issue may help to solve mine. Sorry I wasn't any help.
RE: Extruder motor issue
Trying to print the Benchbin and getting "extruder motor is not spinning on tool" for different heads the last days.
And after that the printer restarts. Worked flawlesly the last few weeks.
RE: Extruder motor issue
I had the same issue. The connector on top of the head and the way the cable is connected to it is not ideal. These connectors are not meant to be used in a mechanical active connection. The industry has connectors like the sub-d and others for that.
The cable fixation works by friction and on the long run this fails and results in the extruder motor error. Prusa has an upgrade for the extruder that will prevent this issue. The tech support send me an upgrade for each nozzle. It creates a way better and more stiff cable connection. After this upgrade the issues are gone.
RE: Extruder motor issue
I had been fighting the extruder motor and also a heater error about 5 to 7 hrs into prints. I suggest that you chat with support and they will have you do a couple of tests. Most likely they will ship you new splitter-dwaft cables and then a new improved dwaft top cover. the way the cable attaches is completely different that what came with the printer. right now i am on my 4th 20 hr print after the change with no issues.
pic of new dwaft top cover with new cable holder (they added 2 more screws).
