"Board temperature" exceeds 86ºC
Couldn't find anything online as to what should be a reasonable board temperature; noticed the XL is showing 86˚C when printing PLA in a room that is about 28˚C. Is this normal?

this guy seems to have similiar temps.

Thanks for the share. I'm really curious as to what Prusa thinks is within spec, as that has implications for enclosing the printer, using it in hot environments etc.

It's normal in the sense that I'm seeing the same temperatures. Whether to worry about it depends where on the board the temperature is measured. If this is the temperature of the electrolytic caps I'd be worried. If the sensor is under the STM32 then I don't care too much.
I've seen mods on printables for enclosures with fans. I'm not yet convinced active cooling is necessary. Also there is a lot of metal in the enclosure so I'd be keen to try passive cooling before active. Also need to figure out whether more cooling is necessary in the first place.

I get this too with an enclosed Prusa XL in a hot room. For now I've just taken the metal cover off but I'm already ordering fans and power supplies to add cooling. Thanks for the link to https://www.printables.com/model/584437-prusa-xl-buddy-cover-with-vents-and-fan-mount, this is good but isn't compatible with the 5 toolhead version so I'll make a design that does.
