New underextrusion Issue
I am getting next issues with strange under extrusion.
i am printing a model from PLA and habe some strange under extrusion issue in one line in many layers. I looks like the moddel is shrinking and generate cracks.
i am using prusament PLA fresh from a bag and dryed 3 hours.
Prusa slicer is also set to standard profile for Prusamen PLA.
I did the print again and get this „cracks“ or underextrusion on another position.
Does anyone know what can cause this issue?
RE: New underextrusion Issue
Hey mate,
I had this problem when I used a lot of retraction without using extra length after retraction. As the under extrusion happens right at the seam I think that can be the issue here.
RE:
Interesting. What parameter(s) did you changed in prusa slicer to get this solved?
I can change this settings, do another print with the same filament and let you know here if your suggestion solves the issue. 🙂
RE: New underextrusion Issue
You first need to check your filament overrides. On this it depends if you need to change it in the filament override or in the printer settings. There you can lower retraction and/or dial up deretraction extra length up. Also you can try to turn off retraction on layer change. That helped me.
RE: New underextrusion Issue
I guess it's the "use ramping lift" options. I disabled the option and changed a small amount of other parameters. Now i have a little bit more stringing (PLA) but no gabs on layer shift. My settings:
RE: New underextrusion Issue
Hey just wanted to give a quick answer. So I could copy my results that currently work here for me. However I usually print PETG in 0.4, since speed is basically never important and usually I only print things PLA that need to look decent. The 0.6 Nozzles I usually use for Parts that just need to work "physically/mechanically" and there I use PETG or Polycarbonate.
I mentioned both setting pages since one can override the other, which doesn't seem to be the case here, which is fine. I would suggest you try on a small part without travel Lift and with 0.2 Deretraction length, but with ramping Lift.
I have to say IMHO this is a little bit of try and error to get it just right. But once you got it, please share it and you can always use it again and again.
RE: New underextrusion Issue
The strage sting is: I printed the same model on my mini+ with Generic PLA Profile and had no issue.
In a couple of days i am going to change the nozzle size from 0.6 to 0.4. Maybe this will also do some changes on print quality.
I am also not in rush…so print quality goes first. Maybe, no using the input shaper profile would be the better choice.
RE: New underextrusion Issue
IMHO this has nothing to do with input shaper. I can only tell you about MK3s and XL, but in my experience the right settings for the XL are very different to the right settings on the other Prusa printers at least when it comes to Nozzle temp, Retraction Settings and Speed. Have you dialed in you temperature? I needed at least 10c° less compared to my MK3s or the standard profiles.
You can definitely get the 0.6 nozzle to work great, but in terms of stringing Retraction Settings and temperature just need to be dialed in better than the 0.4 Nozzle IMHO.
RE: New underextrusion Issue
Yes, you are right! I also think settings are different for the XL.
But what i do not unterstand is, why i am getting such a bad print when i use stock settings for the XL printer and the Prusament PLA, which should be the most easy to handle material.
I think they still have to tweak everything a little bit more for their presets. In most cases i do not want to turn 5-10 knops to get a descent print. For my mini+ this works in most cases like so. But the mini is many years in the market.
