Extruder Cable Bundles Snag on Each Other

Just finished assembly for 2-tool XL.  Pleasantly surprised there were no issues with calibration etc.  On my first print I am seeing the 'cable bundles' for the extruders snag each other during printing.  The orange clips that hold the wiring, filament tube and the guide catch as the print head reaches for the far corner.  Concerned this will develop into an issue.  Thoughts? https://drive.google.com/file/d/15GqMuoFrJ4PY87JF3zjbfRd7W_5dnRDY/view?usp=sharing

RE:

I've seen this on the 5 tool head when head 5 needs to move to the left side of the bed but it hasn't had any noticeable effect so far.

Yeah, the 5 head is worse as you can imagine when it's tool 1 or 5. This printer has so many little issues that make you think they stopped caring and just got it out. The drops of filament all over the bed when it probes, the splats of filament at the start of the print. Seriously, who wants it dropping off the bed?! The constant stringing. They've made a printer and tested features but then not actually used it like a user would.

I agree. And the sad part is it has great potential. I like the toolchanger, it prints nice and quick (in comparison with one extruder multiple filaments solutions)  but i dont thing it has the quality a 4k printer should. And the sad part XL toolchanger could be what separates prusa from all the other 3d printer manufacturers. And to be honest if this was a polished machine it would be a valid option instead of idex machines since it could give you the option for further expansion down the road along with the fact that having multiple extruders doesnt compromise the usefull print area. But is difficult for me to understand that they didn't notice stringing, abysmal wifi speeds and other sub optimal features or luck of. And lets be honest. For a 4k printer they could include an enclosure of some kind.

Agree with all that. I also don't understand why they had people working in implementing IS in the mini firmware. No mini owner expected it yet every XL owner is expectt he features that they advertised the machine would have 2 years ago. Now those same users are the aplha and beta testers for Prusa. In the past people may have accepted this but times have changed. I hate to bring Bambu Lab in to it but owning 3 of their printers I really don't want to have to bug fix for Prusa. My perception has changed (for the better).

RE:

I couldnt agree more about the bambu. I dont have one but the reviews and user experience are overwhelmingly positive. The only complains i hear are about the rfid approach (which i dont get why they should publish it) and thar their are not open. So what. As you said i dont want to troubleshoot for a company, especially on device this price range. If i wanted troubleshooting, tinkering , alphas stages and half assed solutions ill buy a cheap chinese knockoff or setup a voron. For me prusa at this stage and with this printer doesn't not worth the premium that adds on the price because of it name. Great experience with mk3s bad with mmu2s, sls1 was overpriced and with XL a bit disappointed. And finally what you said about the IS. There is no excuse for a printer that was presented in 2021 was delayed for a year, was held behinf a new announced product (mk4) to still have things like IS still in alpha stage.

I mean come on after two years and Prusa could find a way to load flex material to their printer that doesnt involve pushing with pliers or meddling around for 5 minutes because they cannot go through the damn sensor? This is what a 4k printers prusa quality is?

RE: Extruder Cable Bundles Snag on Each Other

I've not tired TPU as yet with my XL. It's something I'm keen to do though as it should be an ideal use case for a tool changer. I did wonder how easily I'd load it through the tubing.

Having had the XL for a few days now. I also had the thought that Prusa could take some things from Bambu. The AMS approach or even the AMS lite could be great on the XL. Imagine powered spool feeds on the side or from a separate unit. Once you've used the AMS system you get very used to not having to load filaments to the nozzle.  Also the spring loaded feed at the top of the extruder on the A1 Mini could work well with the XL extruders.

Right now though, I love the XL concept. I'm just frustrated that it looks like it will be left to 'the community' to work out the bugs for Prusa. I plan to live with it for 6 months and see how it improves.

For TPU:

1. Bypass the side sensor ( I keep them enabled) with a piece of filament.

2. Turn off “Filament Sensor” in the ui panel

3. Remove the guide tube at the top of the tool and feed the stuff in directly into the extruder feeder.

works with zero problems.

Do you have a picture of this? I’m very curious if it looks like I’m thinking. 4 “crashes” during the multi-colored benchy.

I'm using this part at the base, but I'm curious if using a few more up the length of the cable bundle would help...
