RE: Bed levelling failed

I've just had a bed levelling failure.
This was about the 10th print.
The previous print went perfect, with a perfect 1st layer in two different colours. (One small issue is that the bed probing leaves small dots of filament on the bed, and that is visible in the finished print as "wrong colour" dots)

Now the issue:

On this print the bed levelling failed and when inspecting the bed there is about in the middle (not exactly) a spiral groove in the bed. The satin sheet is sort of ruined now.

Your tip saved me from smashing my Prusa xl. Straight from the box I had the same problems outlined in this thread. On customer service for 4 hours.  They had no solution. Thus morning took out the parts you recommended and now it's working. Thank you so much.

Had the same issue and User64X method worked for me. Quality control is really bad for the price we paid on an XL to be very honest. I mean that price range isn't for the original "theme" of maker printers like the MK -> MK3 series where 95% of the printers are made of 3D printed parts. This XL should have been 100% CNCed, we still got 3D printed parts... Eh, hope this sag issue doesn't become more problematic in the future.

RE: Bed levelling failed

Got my XL 5 head Thursday and got the tool heads onto it. I tried a print from the USB and it kept failing probing. I printed the new Z bearing holder that's mentioned in this thread and it still hits it even though it has an extra millimeter of clearance on the new part. So right now I'm printing with the bearings removed and just not trying to print anything very tall. I sent an email to the official Prusa support email on Saturday but they still haven't responded. I've never had a problem with my MK3S+ or my MK4 that I've actually needed support for, so I'm not sure if waiting 5 days is usual.

Attached are pictures of the bed sagging. It's awful
Finally there's pictures of the same ruler on an IKEA desk

RE: Bed levelling failed

I disassembled the entire print bed (taking out each heat tiles) and the problem is with the bed frame.  I talked with Prusa support about the sagging bed frame and they sent me a replacement bed frame.  If you are good with your hands, it's the fastest solution for getting this fixed.  It's not too hard disassembling and re-assembling the print bed, just make sure you take pictures of each step of the way.

I think I'll try this tonight. I assembled my MK4 and my MK3 from the kits. Honestly I should have done the XL kit but I was in a rush and didn't realize I had gotten the assembles XL until after it was a done deal.

RE:

I would agree with @Lotan. Don't wait for your pre-order. Look somewhere else until they get the XL together. Mine has been a paperweight for 36 days and never worked since reception.

RE: Bed levelling failed

Factory assembled 5 tool XL. Fails bed leveling.

Support advised to remove Z bearing housing - this helped. Support suggested re-printing these.

However as I tested with ruler and level I see bed bulging up in the middle significantly.

Will try reprinting the parts in the morning and also take a better look at the bed warping issue.

Does support have to send that file, or can it be found somewhere else?

Z bearing housing is in the Z-axis folder https://www.printables.com/model/449554-xl-printable-parts/files

Was uploaded Oct 24, 2023

I would assume that'd be it.

I was having the exact same spiral crash issue as dwiedmer. I've only got about 50 hours total on this printer and it didn't happen until about 40 hours. The first time it happened, I just restarted the print and it worked perfect for another few prints. Now, another week and a few prints later, it would no longer finish probing without crashing like this. I ran through the calibration again and it made no difference. Strangely, it seemed to do it at a random point - if I attempted the same print multiple times, it would crash in a different spot each time. While I was waiting for a response from support, I flashed the latest firmware (I updated from 4.7.5 to 5.1.2) and ran through the calibration sequence again, and now it seems to be working correctly.
