RE: XL full enclosure

That's kind of what I'm thinking.  And if something better comes along later I won't have sunk a bazillion dollars on something being replaced.

I like their solution.

  • Access is good, unlike the Clearview.
  • Visibility is great.
  • The price is reasonable.
  • Is easy to mod. Plus they give you a fan port and can cut one to your specs.
  • Footprint remains similar

If you need an enclosure right away and don't have the time or patience I don't think you will regret this one.

$699 for some pieces of flat acrylic and some 3d printed parts is really steep.

RE: XL full enclosure

perhaps.  But I'm not seeing a ton of good options.  I think if I had the experience access to the raw materials I'd feel differently about it. most of the designs I've seen posted here in this thread for building one myself are similar idea and require me to go source all the parts and get the acrylic cut etc.  I'm willing to pay for someone's expertise and time in this case lol.

RE: XL full enclosure

Is there anyone on this thread that is attending Formnext with Prusa? Prusa is debuting the Prusa Pro line of industrial printers at Formnext and according to Prusa's latest blog they said, "we’ll be showing the XL, including a prototype of the enclosure for it...".

Would love to see pictures of the Prusa XL enclosure. I hope it does not include the draft shield they showed early on. That blocks all visibility of the print and would make mounting a camera very difficult if not impossible.

Hi Nathan, if you flip back to page 7 on this thread, you should see a whole bunch of photos of the prototype XL enclosure from Prusa. @guyh kindly shared them as he is at formnext. Not sure it will be what you’re looking for I’m afraid from what you’ve said. I don’t think Guy shared anything about the industrial printers though?

However their Prusa PRO HT90 I don't think is a direct competitor to the XL. I mean it has an outstanding enclosure with HEPA filtration and doesn't even need to open the door for PLA (kudos).
But the print size is smaller and (correct me if I am wrong) there is no mention of multi-tool either.

RE: XL full enclosure

I went ahead and ordered one of these last night.  I'm having them put the vent hole on the other side since there are only two spools on that side and it should leave room for the hose fitting.

I'll let you know how I get on.

I'm pretty close to pulling the trigger on this one
https://www.3dupfitters.com/collections/prusa/products/prusa-xl-enclosure-acrylic-case-box-tent-kit

it may not be my long term solution but it doesn't look terrible, it's not 1800+ dollars like clearview one and it doesn't substantially increase the footprint of the printer.

I've ordered stuff from these guys before too.

RE: XL full enclosure

will do!   Trying a two filament tpu print now haha.   From my experience on the MK4, I loosened all the idler levers and it was still tough loading Ninjaflex through that long tube!   I ended up having to use the small spanner that came with my MMU2S to unscrew the festo connector and push the filament in to get it loaded.  Kind of what I expected with that stuff.

To me this looks super Expensive to be honest. But maybe it is the best offer if you really do not want to build it your self.

You could just mod this one though. It would only need some headroom I think: https://www.tukkari.de/p/tf-acrylic-universelles-xxl-3d-drucker-gehause

RE: XL full enclosure

I think based on how much I've had to get at the extruders already(without even having the enclosure yet), I think access to the back where the extruders are will ultimately be a big factor in enclosure design.

The Prusa enclosure looks awful.  I don't like the bellows either because you can't see anything.

Hopefully they come up with something different.

It is pretty nice.  I like that it used the frame that already exists as part of the enclosure.  I am not sold on the accordion thing by Prusa.

I tend to agree with all of your points.  I also like that most of the electronics are outside the enclosure.

RE: XL full enclosure

Given that I had to mess with the extruders to help load Ninjaflex yesterday, I think accessibility and visibility is going to be really important going forward.  I think lifetime of the electronics will be extended having them outside too.

I'll definitely let you guys know how it turns out.   Should ship in a day or two

Definitely, visibility is important. I don't much like the bellows solution myself.

As for this thing, it has a sweet price, especially with 4mm acrylic (wish it was polycarbonate, but hey, not bad) and a HEPA filter with carbon...  but its height is only 671mm. I don't have the printer yet, but Prusa's sketch says 910mm is needed (535mm of the XL chassis + 375mm allowance for toolhead wires and tubes). I don't think it fits in it. Also not very keen on encapsulating those PSU's...

I don’t really like that one unless it has some means to cool the electronics with room air.

If anyone wants to make there own I will be releasing all of the STLs to mine by the end of this month. Granted it's a lot of printing and work. The enclosure has been a work in progress but everything fits together perfectly and easy to assemble. All the T2020 acrylic panels are super easy to remove. The whole top hat also removes with no tools. The enclosure is built on the footprint of the XL.

You can check out the whole process and the planning about it here.

https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/original-prusa-xl-tool-changer-user-mods-octoprint-enclosures-nozzles/ideas-to-make-enclosure-for-xl-multi-tool/

I will be releasing the parts list and finalized STLs towards the end of the month. You will find the approximate cost in my thread above.

A few pics in the final stages.

Thank you. It's taken a while but I wanted to make sure everything fit and assembled with no modifications afterwards. Right now I am going through my list of things to modify or add to this project so I can change a few STLs before I release them. I hope that those that use them will appreciate how detailed the parts are.

if this 3dupfitters one I ordered doesn't end up working out I might look into trying to build one of yours.
