RE: XL full enclosure
I've thought about getting a rack/cabinet for my audio and networking equipment however since I haven't to carry it all down, and eventually back up, stairs lol I'm not sure how keen I am to lug a big 42u cabinet around, especially one wide enough to hold an XL lol.
I don't I'm afraid but you can search google for Data Cabinet, look for one at least 23u high and 1200mm wide/deep. There are a lot of makes, some of which are only available from certain companies and/or in certain countries. There are wall mounted or floor standing (with or without wheels), and most have glass doors so you can monitor things. They're not cheap but they are usually made entirely of steel and are pretty much indestructible, I would never go over to a plastic & perspex type!
RE: XL full enclosure
They aren't light, but they are manageable when empty and with the sides, door, and shelves removed, which is usually easy to do.

RE: XL full enclosure
wow, looks like an armored car!
RE: XL full enclosure
Yep, looks like I will be building my own at some point.
RE: XL full enclosure
I just got an email back from the boxomo folks I used for my MK4 enclosures and sadly they aren't planning on an XL one right now. so my options are limited. Prusa really should have had one to go with the XL at launch.
RE: XL full enclosure
Holy cow, that's much more intense than I would have guessed. This must be a Beta unit because they've drilled holes in the upper metal channel. I can't imagine them developing a kit requiring the user to do that.
I got word from Printer-Box that they aren't working on an enclosure, as Prusa was already doing so. I'm not entirely sure why they wouldn't still make one, so maybe that's something we'll see in the future.

RE:
So given the number of holes in it: at the base of the concertina fan/front thing, at the back of the printer and all the holes peppered in the top Perspex and the absence of a fan & filter, I think it’s safe to assume I’ll be building my own!
Thanks for sharing the photos - really appreciated!
RE: XL full enclosure
You'd need those holes at the base as the bellows need to draw air in to expand.

RE: XL full enclosure
Back at my hotel so able to add a little more info. They said it was a prototype to get feedback on. It’s not a final product. I don’t like the bellows and while the hood is ok I don’t like the lift, swing door. It just didn’t feel great to me.
It shows they’re working on a design at least.
RE: XL full enclosure
I have to say is still clearly a prototype as it would otherwise force you to drill holes in the upper arms.
As for those ventilating upper holes... they might be an afterthought.
In the last picture, I see a registry at the back just above the ventilation for the toolheads. Could that be where a big HEPA filter/extractor could be placed?
RE: XL full enclosure
Clearly I'm going to have to get something in the interim until some finalized solution becomes available.
RE: XL full enclosure
I take it back, the last pic is clearly where they intended to place an outlet or fan exhaust port..
I wonder what the other registry is for...
RE: XL full enclosure
Thanks for the pics GuyH! They will be a great help for those thinking of building their own enclosure.
Quite honestly I was expecting their enclosure to come with a sophisticated filtration system or fire extinguishing or maybe even a temperature regulation management system. I was expecting to be blown out of my seat. This enclosure... well, there is room for improvement. Just saying...
RE: XL full enclosure
One more item I will be adding the T050e BlazeCut suppression system. It came in last week. I will install it and the vent panel at the same time when the top is removed. I just felt for the small price it is worth it for piece of mind if nothing else.
RE: XL full enclosure
I can't imagine this enclosure is going to improve WiFi reception. 🤣

RE: XL full enclosure
I'm pretty close to pulling the trigger on this one
https://www.3dupfitters.com/collections/prusa/products/prusa-xl-enclosure-acrylic-case-box-tent-kit
it may not be my long term solution but it doesn't look terrible, it's not 1800+ dollars like clearview one and it doesn't substantially increase the footprint of the printer.
I've ordered stuff from these guys before too.

No I don't think so!!
😎
RE:
I like their solution.
- Access is good, unlike the Clearview.
- Visibility is great.
- The price is reasonable.
- Is easy to mod. Plus they give you a fan port and can cut one to your specs.
- Footprint remains similar
If you need an enclosure right away and don't have the time or patience I don't think you will regret this one. Pity... if not for those international shipping and import taxes...
