Can't seem to print Prusa black tough

I have gone through an entire bottle of black resin with NO result  and 4 FEP - same result each time   The part is a knob like an elongated gear shift   We have optimized position added support - polished the FEP  - nothing       Frustrated.   I need to get a prototype into the customers hands and this printer is not doing its job.  Are there different settings for black - or suggestions

Pictures of what you are getting would be helpful in diagnosing your issue. At the least a better description of the result is needed to provide advice.

  • Have you run an LCD test to confirm that it appears the LCD and LED array are working correctly?
  • Do other resins work for you?
  • What layer height are you using and what are your exposure times?
  • Have you tried using the resin calibration test?

I believe we figured it out - after the first test print we contaminated the FEP with Isopropyl alcohol  - I did not install the FEP correctly giving the sheet less tension than required.   It is printing now with orange - we will try the throttle handle again tomorrow

What do you mean by "contaminated the FEP with Isopropyl alcohol"? IPA would certainly do no good for the resin, but a few drops or a film that hadn't completely evaporated before adding resin isn't likely to cause a complete print failure.

If the FEP was not tensioned correctly that would definitely play a part in prints failing? Are you not using Prusa's film? If you are I'm not sure how it could be installed loose. If not (I don't), I hold mine down on the sides of the tank until I get the plate below the lip. After that I let go and finish tightening and the result is a fairly tight FEP and it seems to work well for printing.

Speaking of the FEP, are you aware of the o-ring trick to prevent the tanks from leaking? If not, check the thread in my signature and consider adding an o-ring.
