Prusa Slicer Automatic Repairs

Hello,

I have to print a hollow perforated sphere which I've modeled in AutoCad. Whenever I import the STL into prusa slicer it automatically fills the sphere in, making it not hollow. I know wall width isn't the issue because I've printed other smaller hollow perforated spheres in the past without this occuring.

The problem file here is the model labeled "250Hz". The other two import and print no problem despite the same wall thickness and larger apertures. Fairly new to this so any tips to get this fixed would be greatly appreciated. As far as I can tell there aren't any "open edges" but the builder appears to think the entire model needs to be filled in. Sorry about my tone, I've been trying to sort this for a whlie.

RE: Prusa Slicer Automatic Repairs

Hi Luke,

when I Downloaded your 250Hz  model, Prusa slicer announced that it thought the model had been created in metre units, not Millimetre

First time I Opened the model I accepted scaling to MM  and opened a small model, with lots of errors,
So I re opened  without scaling  and ended up with an invisible model with missing layers.

Next I opened the 750hz model, accepting scaling to mm.  which opened without error.

Thee are two orange triangles in the right hand window of prusa slicer for windows. the bottom one (after slicing) says that it automatically fixed 347,128 errors and was unable to fix 79,568 open edges.  this means that your 250hz sphere STL has over four hundred thousand errors

Which probably answers why it is not resolved as you would like.
could you check that your 3D Modelling software, is set to mm rather than metres, and try saving it again...
If you can save the model as a step file or an Obj file, it might open in prusa slicer more successfully next time

regards Joan

so it looks like your 250hz model has a lot of errors.

Thanks so much for the insight.

I'm still fairly new to this so I'm not exactly sure how error is defined here? It looks fine in Autocad. It's just a 3d solid.

I'll try to convert it to an Obj file using other sfotware as autocad seems to lack this feature. I'll update you if this works.

Hi,
I have been printing for  quite a while without needing to know  how errors are defined, just that errors can exist and that often they can be fixed by windows...

Yeah, and maybe in my lifetime it will even support Macs.
