RE: SL1S Shipping Schedule?

@thecase

Very true, I'd just have *really* appreciated a bit more honesty in the shipping time frame when I ordered.  Two months into 3-5 weeks is a bit out of the realm of reasonable variance.  And they had to have known they weren't *making* any more SL1 units when I ordered, so it'd be waiting for the new SL1S printers to ship...

Oh well, not that big of a deal.  Just really excited, and my buddy that ordered the Phrozen at about the same time is already printing with his and has been for weeks.

That's correct! It is only important to me that the specified delivery time is adhered to.

I have just received an unsolicited email from Prusa that there are no problems with my order and that it will be sent with the delivery time specified in the order. In my case, this would be the end of June to the beginning of July 2021. So I'm curious whether this correlates.

like you said, keep us informed each other.

To Prusa's defense, most companies have several months of lead time between announcement and product availability.

Let's keep each other updated here when/if you hear about any order notifications.

Prusa's problem is that they continually say something is going to be available and then miss the stated time by a considerable period of time. One would hope they could learn the lesson, but they have a long history of doing the same thing.

They probably need someone with a logistics and forecasting background.

... they have a long history of doing the same thing.

You state this is a pattern, so you should expect this.  I'm certain you can determine an approximate shipping timeline based on your past experience.  I'd actually be curious how long you waited for each order you've placed with Prusa.

Obviously you're happy with Prusa products or you wouldn't be here.  I think we can agree they are worth the wait.  I understand that the over-promising and ever-changing ship dates are frustrating - but, again - this should be nothing new to you.

It took two months for my MK3 to ship, and I ordered it five months after it was announced.

Given the price point of the SL1S, I'm assuming the total order volume is going to be a bit smaller than the FDM printers.  I wouldn't expect my June order to ship any earlier than September, honestly.  Whenever I do get it, the unboxing with be as exciting as usual, and I'm certain I will not regret the wait.

Actually after buying my SL1 Prusa has lost most of their luster from my eyes. I am very unlikely to buy another SLA printer from them again and I'd think hard before buying another MK3 (though I love mine and it has been nothing but solid).

I ordered my MK3 well after it was released and there was little delay (ordered late Nov and got it early Dec). Similarly my SL1 was ordered well after release and other than their poor shipping practices (holding an entire $2200 order up for a $50 item that was out of stock). My MMU2, however, took about 6 months.

I did, however, watch what happened with the SL1, Mini, MK3S, MK3S+, Mini+, first textured sheet, second textured sheet, and the satin sheet. All had significant delays from when Prusa stated they would start shipping and when they really started shipping.

Hopefully I'm wrong and they've gotten their act together. I'm always happy to be proven wrong in such cases. I'm not gonna hold my breath though😉

RE: SL1S Shipping Schedule?

Hi,

our production is up and running. However, there were some national holidays. First SL1S and CW1S left the factory this morning (Thursday 8th of July).

Those who ordered SL1/CW1 will get SL1S SPEED/CW1S without additional cost, we will cover it. In case your order included an accessory, which might not be needed anymore (e.g. UV calibrator, SL1 spare screen, aluminium resin tank, ...) you will be contacted by our support to adjust the order.

I'm sorry to those, who waited longer for their printer, but we believe it is fair to send you the latest model.

Once you finish your first print(s) let me know your thoughts and overall experience, we put a great effort into making the SL1S SPEED really fast, but reliable. I'm looking forward to your feedback.

Thanks for the update!

Can we expect continuous shipment on daily basis?

Could we have a delivery table or forecast according to the order week? So which order week will be shipped in which week? Kind of like the MINI+ ?

And what about the accessories? For example, when will the activated carbon filter and spare screen, stainless steel tank and lid (CWS1) be available for order?

I have otherwise printers from Zortrax and am very suspicious about the delivery times due to this experience.

Thank you very much! I am already very excited about the SL1S Speed and CW1S and hope the decision against the Inkspire from Zortrax was right.

Great. When are the upgrade kits beginning to ship?

And when are the STL files for the CW1 update being posted to github?

Anyone heard anything about the SL1S upgrade kit? I ordered mine as soon as it was announced, but it's not even listed on the shipping info page.

[edit: looks like EC beat me to it!]

I'm really glad to hear they're shipping! I'll definitely be posting up my results and experiences in here as I go along, first-iteration hardware can always be a bit dicy, hopefully not too bad on this one, not nearly as easy to repair or cobble a fix together as a FDM machine for sure.

Fingers crossed, I'll update in here when I get motion on my order!

I'm in the same boat. I just hope it gets here before I am going away on holiday (or waits until I am back 😝 ).

I am keeping an eye out for the upgrade manual, as I don't think the upgrade will ship until a manual exists.

Hi Mibauer,

to your questions:

- Yes, we will ship SL1S/CW1S continuously. We have a stock of parts, so there shouldn't be any delay.

- Regarding the delivery table, I will ask colleagues to create one.

- Spare parts are partly on the eshop, the rest will be added in the upcoming days. I have approved the SL1S/CW1S parts last week.

Looking forward to seeing your first print results. Our external testers are already pushing the limits 🙂

Hi EC,

the upgrades are ready and in the production queue. As promised to @mibauer, I will talk to my colleagues regarding the shipping table.

STL files for CW1 to CW1S platform upgrade will be up this week. We are finishing the tests of the G-codes for you guys. I will release it at once.

RE: SL1S Shipping Schedule?

I ordered in early May, so it looks like about two months at present, although that'll likely come down really quick as the older backlog clears.

Komitadjie, have you received the SL1S in the meantime? What is your impression of the printer so far?

Maybe you can show us your first print 😉

Just for general info: I ordered in the second half of June and should receive the printer in early August, as I was told.

Sl!-SL1S upgrade kit shipping status?

Has anyone that ordered the SL1->SL1S upgrade had any shipping news on that?  I ordered in mid-June.  I suppose that Prusa will priortise those that ordered the SL1 just before the SL1S announcement, and then those that ordered a new SL1S before they will start shipping the upgrade kits.

Yes!

If FedEx isn't lying, it's sitting on my front porch right now! Needless to say, I'm kinda excited to get home!

Got an email from Prusa suggesting that I should check the torque on the tank-bottom screws and water test it before use... I'm kinda scared there, reading on all the original tank leak issues. Have to see what happens!
