Safely handling the SL1 build platform

Using the Prusa SL1 I often find it hard to handle the heavy build platform, avoid dropping it and damage the FEP or worse the display. There is very little grip space when also avoiding resin on the gloves.

I made this platform handle to fix the problem:

The mechanics is very simple, I use the springiness of the plastic (PETG) to get a firm grip on the platform, but still make it easy to take on and off.

The model file can be found here SL1 Build Platform ClipOn Handle.
The handle is short to allow the lid to be closed and the height is low to allow use of my Prusa SL1 Platform Drip Adapter.

I am still waiting for the ordered SL1 -> SL1S upgrade, but when it arrives the models will be updated (missing the specs to do it now...). Hope no further delays on the SL1S update shipments... Can't wait... 😀 🤔

Have a look at my models on Printables.com 😉

Thank you

I use your drip adapter and tank cover and they work quite nice. I'm sure this piece will work great too and will try it on my next print.

Much joy

Thanks for this. I use your other parts daily and I’ll really enjoy using this part especially now that the new platform has even less grip area. Leaving it on during printing makes me think it would be awesome to leave it on during washing too. Super easy and will probably help me to use less disposable gloves.

Maybe...

Perhaps someone who has already received the SL1s can test these most interesting improvements and report if they still fit?

Update

The SL1 Build Platform ClipOn Handle also fits perfectly on the SL1s.

The Platform Drip Adapter I still have to test.

New SL1S vat/tank lid model

The old tank cover does not fit the new tank.

I just got my SL1 -> SL1S Speed upgrade and is in the process of upgrading 😊

When done, I will be needing a new vat/tank cover myself for the SL1S. The model will be posted, when it has been tested on the assembled printer...

And maybe a better vat/tank lid as the one from Prusa seems a little flimsy...

Have a look at my models on Printables.com 😉

Updated models for SL1S Speed

I finished upgrading from SL1 to SL1S Speed and have updated/tested the upgrade models with Sl1S Speed:

Not sure if the feet on SL1S Speed is the same in the factory assembled model, but mine made a lot of dark rings on the wooden table and the TPU feet caps solves the problem.

Updated SL1/S Speed Platform Handle to version 2

Just updated the platform handle to version 2.
Works for both Prusa SL1 and Prusa SL1S Speed, has a better grip and much easier to clip on/off.

Find it here: SL1/S Speed Platform ClipOn Handle V2
