Gold / Silver resin ?
Have you guys already heard of / found / purchased gold or silver colored resin ?
RE: Gold / Silver resin ?
If the resin with gold/silver look is made with metal particles, it would reflect the UV light and disrupt the curing. I don't think it is possible to make metal looking resin.
Have a look at my models on Printables.com 😉

@area51
I'll keep my spray cans then 😉
RE: Gold / Silver resin ?
There is a Resin from Dragon Resin called Exotic Metalshine. It comes in three color Dark Brass, Brass, Metal Grey.
I have the Dark Brass and printed this model of Serenity
I has a nice sparkle. Somewhat difficult to print with though. I used 2mm diameter support and it seemed to work well. The weight of the resin requires thicker supports
Exposure used: 75 second, 11.5 seconds

Interestingly, I didn't notice the small partial thickness crack running diagonal across the middle of the print.
The photograph greatly exaggerates it. When looking at the print it is hardly noticeable.
Still not bad for a first estimate of setting for this resin

Very interesting.
It seems it is possible to make resin with a glitter effect and still allow the resin to cure.
Will read more about it... here I found the link to the resin: www.dragonresin.com
Real nice model!

Hello Debra.
Im quite new to resin 3d printing and recently bought the Dragon Metal shine resin. Unfortunately i still cannot print with it. i have 2/2 fail prints. What resin profile should i use? Have you got the correct parameters for the specific resin as i cannot find any on the net and Dragon is not responding to my emails.......

I think that you should rather look for electroplating solutions.
Apart from superb metal finish, you are getting additional protections (UV, thermal, chemical and what not)...

@papadakius
Have you tried using the resin calibration test? Sounds like from Debra's post to give it somewhere in the neighborhood of 75 seconds for the bottom layers and then start with either 9 or 10 seconds as the layer time basis.
RE: Gold / Silver resin ?
@gnat
i found the specific resin profile in prusaslicer and it suggests as initial exposure time 50 seconds (i put 70 following Debras guidance) and then exposure time for each layer 30 seconds (yes, thirty seconds). Right now i am doing a test print which obviously will take something like 6-7 hours for a small figure i downloaded from thingiverse. i will let you know about the results. Thats my 3rd try as i tried Debras Exposure used: 75 second, 11.5 seconds and it came out half done, and it really seamed that it needed more time to be exposed to light. We are talking about a resin which is more thick then honey, much more thicker so i guess that big exposure times make sense. I am testing the presets on a Wanhao GR1 resin printer. Cheers.
RE: Gold / Silver resin ?
So here we are.
Initial exposure time 70, exposure time per layer 30 seconds.
Next try will be with 50/20 seconds (initial and normal time accordingly).
Sword was cut while i was taking away the supports as i am completely unexpirienced......
Have no idea what happened with the feet and came out cut and badly printed. The rest of the model looks fine.
