Supports detach from base layer (Bluecast X-One)
Hello,
I am doing my first prints with the Bluecast X-One resin on my Prusa SL1S. Unfortunately the supports seem to detach from the baselayer, see picture at the bottom.
Since I can't attach the print job a brief description of the settings:
- Material: BlueCast X-One @0.05 SL1S settings profile
- Print settings: 0.05 Normal @ SL1S
- Layer Height 0.05mm
- Exposure Time 7s
- Starting exposure time 25s
Thats all I changed in PrusaSlicer and all I found online for this resin.
of course the resin was heated to 40°C, shaken for 1min and waited for 5min after pouring it into the printer.
I also attached a screenshot of how I supported the print.
Do you have an idea why the print might have failed?
On this forum someone suggested to use for the exposure times 6/60 but for a different bluecast resin. Might this work?
RE:
I found two reasons for my failed prints. The print settings are actually fine, just use the resin preset that comes with PrusaSlicer.
I set the initial exposure time to 50 s to ensure good adhesion to the build plate but I'd suspect shorter times also work. The exposure time was set to 7 s which worked for both 0.025 and 0.050 mm layer height.
There were issues with deformed supports and detached cast channels (i.e. long thin vertical cylinders). I suspect thats just a limitation of the resin, the parts are just very fragile and soft so they easily deform during printing.
Now to the actual solution:
first, I forgot to use the screws holding down the tank - thats pretty stupid of me.
second, I have to calibrate before every print. For whatever reason the screen is always tilted down in the front a little bit. During the calibration I have to level it again and then the prints work every time.
Hope this helps anyone out there!
