SL1S Unable to get a successful first print

Hi,

I received the printer a few days ago. I made sure that the latest firmware was installed, followed the calibration instructions and wanted to print the included sample file with the included Prusament Resin Tough Orange.

It has already failed 5 times in different ways. I adjusted the exposure time and tried to recalibrate the device, but I didn't get it printed properly.

I assumed it should work out of the box. Before that I had an Elegoo Mars 1 and didn't have such problems with the first print.

Now I hope that someone has any tips or hints for me about my problem.

You emptied and cleaned the tank after each failure correct? And filtered the resin if you reused it? If not, that is likely a contributor to the successive failures after the first.

Other than the tearing sound as it separates from the FEP during a layer change, are you hearing other noises (e.g. banging) that might suggest something is moving incorrectly? Try going through the wizard process again to re-level your LCD and platform. Really crank down on the bolts securing the platform's gimbal. I thought I had them good and tight on my SL1, but found there was still a shade of movement. Similarly make sure the knob to lock the platform in place is really tight before starting the print. Those pictures really look to me like the platform is moving a bit during the print.

I'm still running a SL1 so I don't know the specifics first hand, but I know there is a setting to change the speed of dropping the tank during layer changes. If you haven't already, maybe try slowing it down and see if that has an impact.

Thanks for these tips. It actually worked. I don't know if the screws weren't tight enough or the tank went too fast.

In any case, the pressure was a thousand times better than before
