xBuddy box
Has anyone remixed/created a bigger xBuddy box with far better cable management than the disaster the original seems to be?
I'm looking at mine wondering how in hell I ma going to get all these cables sorted, secured and the lid fitted properly? I'm dumb struck 🙁

Same to me. The adapters take a lot of more room in the box than the cables in the mk4. I managed to press them show in the box so that I could screw the lid in. But it’s messy and overcrowded with cables and adapters inside. I better don’t look inside.
A bigger box might be a problem because the metal box serves as cooling device for the processor.

"Cooling device" perhaps, if you only print PLA. Or perhaps if you have the new heat transfer pads with the "diode" mode that work only one way ... 😉

@Clamikra ..... I used a laser thermometer whilst running a print and didn't measure more than 40 DegC on any component in the box. Reading comments on a plastic lid for the original box someone was saying they had 65 DegC inside with the metal lid/box!
The lid on mine has a mesh (open) front over the whole surface of the card so heat dissipation is not an issue. Also it's not covered in cables!

The xBuddy board has a temp sensor. You can see the value on the printer's display via Home Screen > Info > Sensor Info > Board Temperature. During a print you can get there via Tune > Info > Sensor Info > Board Temperature. When printing something like PETG or even ASA or PC inside an enclosure, this value can reach over 70 °C. And when you have a heat bed with 110 °C behind the back wall of the box, there goes your "cooling effect" for the board. And my observations were on an MK4. On an upgraded former MK3 with all the adapter clutter inside this will hardly be any better.

It's not in an enclosure, never has been.
there's no adaptor clutter as such, except for the large connector, as all the stepper cables have been cut and soldered to the Molex connectors.
if it becomes an issue I'll simply print a new lid with a fan mounted on it. If Prusa had simply made the box 15mm wider it wouldn't have been an issue. Poor design 🤔

If you never want to print with filaments that need an enclosure, you'll be probably fine then. 🙂
