Add plate type to display?
Is there a way to add the plate type to the footer of the display? This would be very useful to me.
Of course I can just look at the printer and know what type of plate is loaded, but that does not tell me what the printer software "thinks" what plate type it is using.
It doesn't matter to the printer ... but you could simply include the plate type in the gcode filename.

I want to see the plate type set up in the printer before I start printing. There have been times when I switched plate types but forgot to reset the plate type in the printer setup - this typically results in poor first layer adhesion.
Wouldn't the plate type in the filename be enough memory jog? No matter what you set on the printer it has no way of knowing which you actually fitted... All it could ever display is what you told it you intended to fit.

Making a plate change requires two things :
- Physically changing the plate
- Selecting the plate type in the printer settings
If I physically change the plate and do not change the printer settings, then the printer will use the wrong Z offset values for the first layer. Of course I can always go into the printer settings to see what plate type is selected, but what I would like is to have that information displayed in the footer.

I agree, this would be useful to see. I've had this happen too that I swapped plates but forgot to change the settings on the printer.
But it's better to submit this as an enhancement request on Github. More likely to be seen by devs than here.

Someone has already made a feature request on Github, I saw it a few weeks ago.
I agree, this would be useful to see. I've had this happen too that I swapped plates but forgot to change the settings on the printer.

I think this would be a useful feature for the MK3.5 because different build plates may have different z-offsets. These values are saved in the referring plate slot. Like to see what plate is active in the display, too!

I did some investigation on github and found first requests for this feature back from february. This makes me wonder how long it could take to implement this?

I don't think it's a matter of time to implement but time to make it to the top of the priority list. In all fairness (and as much as I'd like this feature myself), our printers print perfectly fine without it. But I do hope some programmer will take it on in their spare time.

I'm not quite as relaxed about it as you are. If the wrong build plate is set, a failed print is the best-case scenario. The worst-case scenario is a ruined build plate.
The effort required to implement this is minimal! The footer is already configurable today. The "steel sheet" date also exists. For someone who is familiar with the source code, bringing these two things together is a simple exercise. The fact that it has not yet been implemented shows me how important the buyers of the 3.5 upgrade are to Prusa. And that annoys me.

+1 for wanting to be able to see the plate selection/setup on the screen. Honestly, I'd also love to have "big button" on the main screen for plate swapping. Digging two or three levels deep in the menus for something that you do quite often isn't good user interface IMHO. Reminds me of the PTSD I still have from the couple of years I had an iPhone.
That the devs apparently thought having quick reference for fan speeds was more useful than the plate selection would be mildly amusing to me if I weren't so prone to forgetting to make the hardware swaps, lol. IIRC, the Mk3S+ showed the selected sheet on the screen, even with the crappy pong UI, so it's difficult for to me to understand why that went away. Sometimes I wonder if software developers talk to real user-type people before they call it done.
