Prusa Mk3 - 3.5 (or 3.9 or 4) upgrade

Does the upgrade kit include an entirely new hot end?  I've torn my wires again after a particularly bad print failure "glob-o-plastic" on the head.  So, I need a new hot end, but if the upgrade includes one....

RE:

Hi,

I use a Revo hotend on the MK3.5. I am very happy with the result.

Here are a few examples https://www.printables.com/model/880350-addon.

It is cheaper then a complete upgrade

Chris

For 3.5 , the hotend is just re-used, so a new one is not included. For 3.9 and 4.0 the hotend and extruder are re-designed (nextruder) so are included.

Note also if you go down the 3.5 route, there is currently no upgrade path to 3.9 or 4.0 from 3.5, so maybe another thing to consider.

The REVO hotend is better than the original hotend, but its actually better than the MK4/XL hotend as well, and it heats up twice as fast as the MK4/XL hotend.

I don't know if it faster. It is faster then the old hotend as the MK3s. I wish I could go back to my Bondtech with Mosquito but it is not possible yet.

If you look at the MK4/XL hotend, its just a big hunk of metal with a thermistor and heater like 3D printers have been using for 10 years. That is a mass that takes time to heat. The Revo is different. It has a HTPC ceramic heater, and there is no big block. It heats very quick.  In fact it heats so fast that Prusa had to tweak their FW because the printer would report an error.

My Mk3+ is damaged by a leaking pipe in my basement shop, and I would like to upgrade it to an Mk4, but it says I have to print some plastic parts on my 3+ first. I have another working printer, an old Delta that I use for ABS but I can't find the STL files for the Mk3+ to Mk4 upgrade. I want to print those needed files first to be sure they are good enough, given the age of my old Delta, before I buy the kit where are they hidden?

https://www.printables.com/model/451501-mk4-printable-parts/files. Make sure you read about how they need to be sliced, too.
