RE: MK3.5 Upgrade Kit
Same here. I need to check my printer. I cannot remember all of my printer beds.
I just got an email survey asking me to confirm what PSU and heatbed connector I have for my Mk3S+ -> M3.9 kit order. The email notes that they're now scheduled to start shipping at the end of August. It looks like if you have an older (silver) PSU and/or a heatbed connection that is soldered, your machine isn't fully compatible with the 4.0 or 3.9 upgrade. The good news for me is that my machine has the newer parts for both.
I'd be shrugging over the delays if they hadn't immediately charged me for my order in early April. Getting charged and then (hopefully) waiting 5 months for my order to finally ship is a long time to essentially be loaning them money.
I just got the e-mail survey. Mine has the black P/S and screw terminal heatbed. Since my printer falls in the "OK" category I'm hopeful that the kit get shipped in August

MK3 to MK3.5 upgrades
With nearly 30 different variants of our printers and upgrades being currently offered, we're experiencing an overload in both manufacturing and development. This is why we have decided to temporarily stop offering the MK3.5 upgrade on our e-shop until we resolve the situation and we estimate that the MK3.5 upgrade will become available in 4-5 months. Everybody who placed an order for the MK3.5 has received an email with full explanation and information regarding possible solutions. Everybody who placed an order for the MK3.5 upgrade is eligible to get an MK3.9 upgrade for free as compensation for the trouble. If you haven't received this e-mail, please get in touch with our tech support.

RE: MK3.5 Upgrade Kit
I filled out the survey the day that it was sent...
I have one of the early generations of the Mark III - I did go with the power supply upgrade and will consider an upgrade to the heated bed.
I do have 2 Mark III, so my goal is a good upgrade on one to the max; and use the parts as spare parts for the other.
RE: MK3.5 Upgrade Kit
As I understand from the survey, if you need the bed upgrade they will include it for no additional charge. Likewise, the harness for the silver PSU is also a free addition. If you want the new PSU (which I opted for) they will sell it to you for 50% of the regular cost. Seems like a good compromise IMO. I imagine most people with several hours on their silver PSUs would be glad to get a new PSU for a discount. Electrolytics fail, especially under heat and constant load. My PSU has well over a year on it (print time) over the last 5 years. My printer was from the very first few batches of MK3 that shipped.
RE: MK3.5 Upgrade Kit
In my visit with the help desk, they couldn’t tell me anything about the offered and accepted upgrade to 3.9. I then ask when I could expect some clarification of my order. Don’t know and can’t tell me! So I asked when I might expect my order to be sent and was told it will be some time. I asked if that meant November/December and was told that might be the case. They tell me my refund will take up to 14 days. I think marketing got ahead of manufacturing here.

RE: MK3.5 Upgrade Kit
I'm stilling waiting - has anyone received an upgrade kit yet?
RE: MK3.5 Upgrade Kit
I am still waiting on my refund, can’t seem to find where they sent it!

RE: MK3.5 Upgrade Kit
I ordered my upgrade kit on 4-10 and it finally shipped on Friday!
RE: MK3.5 Upgrade Kit
Was it the 3.5? Did you do the survey? Also did you need the new psu and heatbed or were your compatible?
congrats!!!
RE: MK3.5 Upgrade Kit
It was a 3.9 kit and my heatbed and PSU were already compatible. It did the survey when it came out
RE: MK3.5 Upgrade Kit
Thanks. To clarify, you ordered the 3.9 originally? Or the 3.5?
Just trying to see if my 3.5, upgraded to 3.9, with incompatible heatbed and PSU will ship anytime before Halloween. 😉

Confirming 3.9 upgrade kit
RE: MK3.5 Upgrade Kit
I have to give Prusa credit - the parts are well packaged and organized. Boy there are a lot of new parts! (Sorry for the poor photo, the bags are particularly shiny)

I finally found my refund! Glad we got that worked out! I will reorder the 3.5 when they get caught up, as I want to keep my Mosquito hotend.

RE: MK3.5 Upgrade Kit
Naturally my MMU2S decided to start experiencing the same issues after "updating" the firmware that is being reported in that sub-forum. So I experienced about a 6 hour delay in printing as I first tried troubleshooting it, before giving up and bypassing the MMU entirely. Nothing like having printing issues while you're trying to print new parts for your printer!
RE: MK3.5 Upgrade Kit
I asked support about the 3.5. There is no timeline. I wonder if they have reconsidered offering it at all.

RE: MK3.5 Upgrade Kit
Then if they don’t want to support the minimum changes to the MK3 I guess I will just keep printing with what I have till I decide on another printer. Not what I want to do nor what they have done in the past, but what happens, happens. They have supported their printers on an upgrade path since I started using them in early 2018, I don’t see any reason for then not to do so now. I understand their issues with all the different mods, but they need to give us the end user some credit for doing what is needed to make the upgrade work. That is what has made them grow like they have.

RE:
One other thing, I am thinking about selling my MK3S+ upgraded printers and just building the full Mk4 kits. the upgrades are expensive and it might be better to have a new printer.
I had originally ordered the MK 3.9 upgrade, but then thanks to the shipping delay I had the time to reconsider the upgrade of my MK3S/MMU2, because with the upgrade, I would had lots of spare pieces (and they are money 😉 ) and I would have lost the MMU usage. I considered that the upgrade costs were too high for me for what I would had in my hands at the end. So I cancelled the upgrade kit order, and placed a new order for the Full MK4 in kit.
You have still the time to do the same. And I suggest you to keep the precious MK3S.
I am satisfied because:
- I have my MK4 IS (perfectly working, I did not get any issue on assembling)
- I finally updated the MK3S to MK3S+ (i had the kit since one in the dust)
- I updated the MK3S+ from E3DV6 to E3D REVO fast swappable nozzle (the MK4 can't be updated to REVO).
- I replaced some MMU2 worn parts with new printed one.
- I updated the firmware of the MK3S+ to the REVO version (it requires a custom Prusa Firmware version)
- I updated the MMU2 with the completely new firmware that seems a lot better than the old.
- I don't have a box full of spare motors, bars, and pieces.... 😋
and I have two printers instead of one, also able to print simultaneously, and one is also multi material. 😀
...and by the way, I ordered also the MMU2->MMU3 kit that is being delayed week after week (I see the shipping date shifting each week in my order), but I'm in no hurry since I want to see how reliable the new MMU2 software is, because if it will be reliable, I will NOT install the MMU3 upgrade kit until it will proved to be reliable.
RE: MK3.5 Upgrade Kit
My guess is there is very little upside in creating the 3.5 upgrade kit for Prusa. The 3.5 firmware has to be a cross between the old MK3 (because it uses the old extruder) and the MK4 (because it runs on the new CPU with the new display.) That means brand new firmware (i.e. a big software project) for hardware they'll never sell. And the MK3 users out there would have to be willing to pay half the price of new MK3 and all you'll see for your effort is a color display that you didn't have before. As it happens, I ordered an MK3.5 kit way back in April, but would have not been willing to pay the price except the LCD display on my MK3 is damaged and very difficult to read. (6 months later, still limping along. and the Y bearings are making noises, but thought I would wait for the kit to fix...maybe soon?) The MK3.5 seemed like the right choice back then. Now I am hoping to get the 3.9 as compensation for ordering something they figured out later would take them nearly a year to deliver.
RE: MK3.5 Upgrade Kit
My only thought in getting the 3.5 was not the display, but changing a 8 bit controller for a 32 bit controller with some room to grow.
