MMU Space Saver

I've been thrilled with my Mk4/MMU, but less thrilled with the loss of desk space. So I got myself a small square table and built a fixture to hold the spools and buffer unit. I had to some shorten some filament tubes and length a couple of others. I also had to make a flange to mount the buffer unit in. It all seems to be be working, and now I can use my desk again,

Thank you for sharing! It is interesting to see that the location/orientation of the spools seem to work without problems; this helps a lot with my own current considerations, where I will put the buffer at the side of my printer housing.

Cheers

I suffer from a similar desk space problem and have been delaying adding my ready to go MMU3 to my printer for this reason. Your solution is very neat and I may well copy it.

Thanks

RE: MMU Space Saver

Thank you for your kind words. I've been using it for a few days now. Apart from the space saving, I'm impressed by how easy it is to load/unload filament because everything is now fixed in place, and at a better height. In particular, I've put self tappers through the tube holders and spool holders. Previously I've always been annoyed by how the tube holders keep jumping off the spool trolleys when I'm loading filament.

The self tappers only have to be loosely screwed in. They don't hinder adjusting for different widths of spools.
