MMU3 Has thrown its toys out the pram

I  just printed a job in PETG; pretty run of the mill job with no issues. At the end it kept giving errors about not being able to unload the filament. I kept opening up the MMU and gave it a good clear out. I completely removed the filament and that didn't help. I ensured that the end was really perfect. One of the help files suggested moving the carriage bit with the outlet tube the the far right, so I tried that, but it keeps complaining. It is now insisting that it has stuck filament, but I can't see any evidence of any stuck filament anywhere. I have noticed that the carriage that lines the output tube up with the five filaments isn't moving at all. It is a while since I built it but if memory serves me right the sensor in it (FINDA?) , is supposed to light up red when filament is under it, but i can see any sign of a light coming on regardless of whether there is filament or not.

Can anyone help?

Many thanx

Ralph

Actually the light comes on when there's no filament, and goes out when filament is detected.  So the fact that your light is off suggests that the finda thinks there's filament loaded.

Chances are there's a bit of broken filament or debris underneath the ball bearing, pushing it up towards the finda.  You could try removing the PTFE tube from the selector and then pushing a bit of filament back in through the fitting, to see if you can clear the path of any debris.  When you pull the filament out the ball bearing should then drop and the red LED should light up.

Another possibility, if you're sure the filament path is clear, is that the finda is adjusted too low, so that it detects the ball bearing even when there's no filament in the path.
