MMU3 failed on filament 1

I've been using my MMU3 with a MK3S+ for 5 months or so now, generally with very good results.

Today, I started a print, filament 1, and when it started loading, it made loud clunking noises and failed. This has happened before, although it seemed louder than usual. When it happens, I reload and it's okay.

But this time, the MMU3 seems to be in a bad state. The "1" led is lit, and when I reset from the MK3S+ panel, or with factory reset, lights on the MMU blink, but the worm gear that moves the carriage doesn't move, and the "1" LED stays lit. I turned the worm by hand to see if there was a piece of filament stuck in the filament 1 feed, but there isn't. The menu item "Preload to MMU" has also disappeared from the MK3S+ menu.

I took off the connector at the MMU end of the MMU-hot end bowden tube, and there was nothing jamming the MMU carriage.

I've tried resetting and power cycling in every combination I can think of, but no luck.

Under support on the printer display:
MK3S+ F/W is 3.14.1-8237
Fil Sensor v.: 0.4 or newer
Printer display says MMU Connected, FW: 3.0.3
Under support/sensors, I see:
PINDA: 0
FINDA: 1
Fil.sensor 0

RE: MMU3 failed on filament 1

'FINDA: 1' suggests that the MMU thinks there is still filament in the selector.  Perhaps a broken sliver of filament is pushing the ball bearing up against the finda, or perhaps the sensor has dropped slightly so that it's too close to the ball bearing.

Try pushing a bit of filament into the fitting to see if the ball moves up and down freely, and see if that maybe pushes out a bit of debris so that you get 'FINDA: 0' when you pull the filament out.
