SpoolJoin for MK4?
Any word if SpoolJoin will be added for the MK4?
RE:
Just went to print in Single Mode and saw this option. I didn't see anything under Settings > Single Mode (MK3+ Only) but just noticed it here. I'm confused.
RE: SpoolJoin for MK4?
It's a little under-documented imo but with the MMU enabled you get the screen at the start of every print showing what tools are assigned to which slot, you can change the tools around on that screen or assign a slot to do spool joining. Broadly this is better than the MK3 version because you can assign specific slots for tool joining to avoid accidentally joining spools, but it takes a little messing around in the menu to see it.
RE: SpoolJoin for MK4?
I'm not seeing the abilty to select spooljoin on the tool assignment menu. All I find is the ability change the assigned tool for the color or change the filament type. Would you please give a more complete description of where and how the spooljoin can be selected?
RE: SpoolJoin for MK4?
I also struggle with the spool joint. As i understood it, when the spool is emty, the mmu3 will move to the next slot and load this filament and continue printing.
As i tested this and snapped the filament and waited for filament rin out, it stopped.printing, pushed the filament out of the mmu3 and asked me to remove it and insert new filment in the slot just ran out. I cant get it working
I tried single mode print (just mk4 is without mmu3 profile) and mmu3 profile. In the last try (mmu3 profile) it dit not ask me if i might rearange the filaments, it just started printing. But insendet it " upload and print" from.the lrusa slicer over the air.
Also, i did not found a "spool join" option in the printer menus.....
Im very confused, and i have many nearly empty spools i would like to finish in the next few technical functional prints.
RE: SpoolJoin for MK4?
thanks for the pointer here. will look there for sure. That said, that pre-print-submenu doesn't show when running a job from the Prusa Connect Print Queue 🙁
This is in the workflow where you have a bunch of gcodes sitting in your queue and you can, from the MENU>Control menu, set the printer "ready" and it will dequeue the next item from the Prusa Connect queue and start the print.
I well understand that inserting the submenu on filament management would mess up that workflow -- maybe the Spooljoin capability should be exposed through the mid-print "Tune" options?
RE: SpoolJoin for MK4?
Yeah I think the Spooljoin and tool change functionality needs a UI/UX pass because it's not super intuitive how to use it and it seems inconsistent based on where you start a print from.
RE: SpoolJoin for MK4?
I chatted with Prusa support about this earlier. Yeah: Spooljoin is definitely in the MK4. It is just not well documented. They pointed me to the Prusa XL page here: https://help.prusa3d.com/article/tools-mapping-xl_668277
And this worked. The punchline is this: have your multiple (partial) filaments loaded in the MMU. When you go to print from the xlcd (will not work on PrusaConnect ot Prusa Link), the tool mapping screen will come up. Select your default filament in the left column, click on it. This will allow you to then move to the right column and set up spooljoin for the other filaments.

Does anybody know how to enable spool join with a single material print?

ok I found it: click on "print" and then click on material on the left, here you can enable spool join
RE: SpoolJoin for MK4?
Just load both filaments and before you print you can select it in the menus just as you would for a multicolor print.
Does anybody know how to enable spool join with a single material print?
RE: SpoolJoin for MK4?
Is there a way we can have the toolhead purge/wipe/etc to the tower rather than just doing a purge in mid air thus dragging filament into the print? If I don't grab the "shmootz" as it travels back to the print it messes up the print.
