Silly question?
Hello,
I wonder whether the MMU3 makes it possible to print using different kinds of filament (not only different colors of the same filament), for example mixing ASA with PETG or FLEX.

Sure, in fact I use the MMU as a way of having different filament types loaded all the time. But remember, not all filaments will bond with each other. If you are attempting to blend filament types into one print you might have problems. Also differences like printing temperature, flowrates, other parameters may make printing an object with different types of filament very challenging.
For me, the MMU allows leaving up to 5 different filament types and/or colors loaded all the time so I don't have to go change the filament every time I want a different filament type and/or color. I love it.

Keep in mind that after switching between materials that don't mix, you'll have to do substantial purging to achieve the best results. Some people say they use something like 800 mm³ and this post claims 2500 mm³ or more are necessary: https://www.antalife.com/2020/07/project-just-how-multi-material-is.html. The default is 80.
And soft or semisoft flexibles don't seem to work at all with the MMU. Maybe hard TPU works, haven't tried that.
