I would think that  "the first problems have been discovered and addressed." is exactly what they are working on.

Design it, Print it!

Don't think so. It seems already pretty stable as well on the mk4 and they are just sorting out some issues. You could see at the smrrf how well it already performs.
It will for sure take some time to fix and test the mods that will be required for the mk4 and of course to make/update the documentation I assume. Also don't forget that many people are sick of covid these days and they had a hole bunch of orders on black friday. Furthermore, there are a lot of serious bugfixes (bsod) as well that have to be resolved (not for mmu3 but for mk4) which they currently work on and are expected to come with fw 5.2. Just give them some time to polish some things 🙂

Sounded like they were only sorting out some issues several weeks ago 🙂

I only saw a few seconds clip from SMRRF, is there any more material available?

No, didn't see anything other online than the youtube snippet of smrrf. But friends were there and saw it.

I don't think that the MMU3 itself is really causing any trouble, it's more the mk4 firmware in its current state far away from being "adult", unlike the MK3 firmware.
Based on the current github issues, they still have to sort out big issues on the mk4 firmware first (like blacking out on loading multi extruder files or BSOD issues).
However I'm pretty sure they are aware that the mmu3 release for the mk4 didn't work as planned and they will try to speed things up.

I sold my MMU2 with all of the upgrades with my MK3 printer and Ordered the MMU3 for my MK4 as soon as Prusa started accepting orders for it.

I am more than a little frustrated but I would rather Prusa get it right than ship crap

In the case of MMU3 for MK4, all orders. There is not a single item in the store yet and I have an order for July 2023. Meanwhile, Josef makes excuses and makes excuses...

As of my last knowledge update in January 2023, I do not have real-time information, and the availability of products can change. To find out the current status of the Original Prusa MMU3 upgrade kit for MK4 and whether it is shipping soon, I recommend checking the official website of Prusa Research or contacting their customer support directly.

Anyone at Prusa want to make an update? 🙂

Loved the Development Diary "Update on MMU3 for the MK4". It renewed my hope that the MMU3 will work well when it comes out and I appreciate that things happen and timelines can change.  Glad to wait longer for kinks to be worked out by your team rather than having to sort out for myself.  Mostly.

Last line in the Development Diary was a commitment to keep us informed, "We will keep you updated both with the good news and shipping being ready, but also in the case of ongoing troubleshooting and further development." It has been a couple months and I'm curious if there is any update?

An update would be really nice.   Getting ready to buy the MK4 and really hopeful MMU3 is still coming out.

Thanks!

Perhaps posted in the wrong section but precipitated from delays on this order.

Over the past little bit I've nearly clicked the 'checkout' button for an A1 Combo a few times.  It would tickle my multi-material itch and the $299 I have waiting in Pursa's bank for an MMU3 would cover a big hunk of it.  Also, it would mean my MK4 isn't tied up while waiting for a time-consuming multi-colour/material print.  I love the 'just works' MK4 very much.  My un-fantastic feelings about Bambu as a company are softening as I think about consumer benefits of mass produced, appliance-like 3D printers.   If it wasn't Bambu, it would have been someone else I guess.  Progress perhaps.  Want Prusa to be my future printers as I was so fond of the MK3, and now MK4.  Hope they are not too philosophically hamstrung if consumer 3D printing becomes more widespread and common.  It will be interesting how consumer 3D printing looks in another five years.

I completely agree with you. You hit the nail on the head with those words. But I have to say, for me "keeping you up to date" doesn't mean as much as "maybe you'll get an update in 3-6 months"For me, it means that updates come continuously, every 4 weeks for example. But here I feel like I'm being taken for a ride by Prusa again. They always talk a lot, but then rarely follow up their words with action. That doesn't exactly inspire confidence in them.

Much harder to under-deliver with real competition.  Definitely feels like I’m trying to rationalize the wait for this one...  Don’t know how Prusa resources are allocated to whatever projects they are working on, just hope this doesn’t stretch out much longer.  Who knows, it could be ready to go next week.  Being in the dark is eroding my brand loyalty for sure.  Been dying to do some multi color/material so I’m sure I’ll just pull the trigger on something soon.

Judging from the several months of delay, it seems like a very difficult task to get automatic filament switching to work with the MK4 extruder.

At this point I think it would make more sense to just release it, but with a disclaimer saying that it only works with PLA, or even with a specific brand of PLA.

95% of my prints are PLA, so that would be fantastic for me if i could use it at least like that.
But, i would not want a car, if the transmission would go into R,1 and then wait for them to solve 2,3,4,5 later.

Overall, my complaint also is the lack of information.
I watched the december podcast where they mentioned the MMU3 for about a minute then moved to the next topic, it was painful.
Time goes by without any info and in the meantime Halloween and Christmas have passed...

I was close to sell my MK3. But I need a multicolor option. I changed my order from the MMU3 upgrade / MK4 to the MK3 version. Now the MK3 is running very nice and my first prints did run without any trouble (but I had this also on the original MMU2). Now I have 2 printers: MK4 for standard one colour and fast printing; and the MK3 for multicolor where speed is not an issue at all.

@Volker That is a great setup. If I had know the MK4 MMU was going to be super delayed I would have kept my MK3 and done the same.  Glad you’re off to a good start with it!

Well I stumbled upon this, on the prusa youtube channel there is a video from the Sanjay Mortimer Rep Rap Festival SMRRF from early december 2023.

At the end of the video they do show the MMU3 running on the MK4:

Nothing about release but nice to see it running on the MK4.
