MMU3 and carbon fiber reinforced filaments

Hello from South Korea. 😀

I have installed E3D High Flow ObXidian Prusa Nozzle on MK4S and I am printing mostly with PLA-CF filaments.

I use eSUN PLA-CF filaments, mostly black, but often green and purple as well.

And additionally, I would like to use eSUN PA-CF and eSUN eLastic(TPE-83A).

I'm considering the MMU3 to reduce the hassle of changing filaments, can I use the MMU3 in this case?

and can I still use the E3D High Flow ObXidian Prusa Nozzle in this case?

I would really appreciate your advice.

Thanks.

I think that would work for the filament change. You can also use the nozzle. I can't tell you whether flexible material will work, probably not. Normally you also have to loosen the screws on the idler.

If you are printing material that is sensitive to moisture, you should consider that the material in the buffer is in the open.I have solved it like this.

My opinion is that if you really only want to change the filament easily, don't do it.The MMU already adds a lot of complexity to the system.Only if you want to start printing a lot of spools is the MMU very practical.

Yes, I expected MMU to be able to easily use PLA-CF, PA-CF, TPE, etc. 🤔

Thanks for the detailed explanation. 😀

Should be fine with PLA-CF.

Flexible filaments do not work with any external feeding system (although Bamboo Lab have just released a slightly different version of flexible filament that is AMS compatible...)

Currently, Prusa slicer only allows pla and petg for multi material auto load or selection with mmu setups.  For unsupported filaments you program them as a non mmu program.  When run with the mmu, you need to tell it which mmu slot to use.   Example I have asa in mmu slot 3.  Then slice my part as a simple mk4s using asa.  When loaded and run, I need to assign the asa filament to mmu slot 3 on the mk4s menu screen.  Then it loads and unloads from mmu slot 3.      This assignment is done every time you run a non mmu program when the mmu is enabled on the mk4.
