How to disable the MMU3

After 2 years of fantastic printing with my Mini+, i'm considering upgrading to a Mk4/MMU3.

I do quite a bit of TPU printing though, and I understand that the MMU3 will not cope with TPU. So I'm wondering.... If i've got a MK4/MMU3 setup, how easy is it to temporarily disable the MMU3 and print from a single roll of TPU?

Very simple: just deactivate MMU and filament sensor in the settings.

RE: How to disable the MMU3

Hello,

Just a quick note (you may want to doublecheck what I am saying because I am not completely sure if what I am saying is correct or not). When you add the MMU3 to the MK4, you will need to make changes to the extruder unit. One of the changes is the way the extruder detects when the filament runs out.

This is potentially bad news because (as I understand) if you are bypassing the MMU3 unit and the filament runs out you may need to fish out the left over from the extruder, it will not be sticking out as nice as before where is very easy to grab it and throw it away.

Again, I may be wrong about this but just a heads up. This may or may not be an issue for you.

@ReneX. Well i've ordered them now. So one way or another I'm going to be disabling the MMU. I've had an email from the carrier. The consignment is on it's way already.

RE:

Deactivating the filament sensor when the MMU is deactivated is optional. With PLA or PETG, for example, you can leave it activated. However, you may have to press a little against the spring with your hand when loading filament. With the modification, everything is a little bit tighter. With TPU, I have found that turning off the sensor causes fewer false alarms.

So far, I have had no problems removing the filament.
