MMU3 idler body printed without supports?

Hi guys,

I bought the mmu3 without the printed parts (probably a mistake for me being quite a noob). Just about starting to print the idler body using the provided gcode for MK4 I realised there are no supports at all 🤨 . Secondly, the properties are set to .2 Speed. The print instructions recommend .2 Quality instead..... This seems a little strange fo me, for it's a vital part in the construction, isn't it.

Should I add support at least to the big opening (if Yes: which settings, cause my supports either tend to fall off before supporting anything or refuse to come off the Model) or just try printing "as is" with the delivered Gcode?

regards,  Ralf

Some people have commented that the provided GCode works. Personally, I also re-sliced it with the quality setting and printed fewer parts at a time, just in case something goes wrong.

No supports are necessary anywhere. If you look closely, you'll notice that the models are specifically designed for supportless printing. The larger holes aren't round, for example.

You made my day, thx 🙂  reducing the amount of stuff on the bed seems a great idea anyways, rather printing 'n' waiting twice, than throwing away lots of stuff. Slicing the .stl to "Quality" will make me confident to give it a try.

You are right, I didn't realise the shape of the big opening....

cheers,  Ralf

My recommendation would be to just print the g-code provided by Prusa as is. In the MK3S+ -> MK4 upgrade this worked well and I'm now printing the parts for the MMU2S -> MMU3 upgrade that so far seem to print well.

My reasoning is that Prusa know what they're doing, they really are the experts in this case and had you bought the MMU3 with printed parts this is exactly how they would have printed them in their print farm.

Yes, print it as is. No supports necessary.

Details on "Printable Parts" by PRUSA themselves tell us to use Print settings: 0.20mm QUALITY Filament: PETG (tested on Prusament)20% Grid infill.

Gcode from "Download" same page is set to 0.2 SPEED

imho this is confusing

They might have changed some of the parameters there, you don't know. Maybe they just based it off 0.2 speed. If they posted the g-code this way, that's probably the way they think is best to print it.
