Lane 5 not pulling in filament
New MMU3 on MK4 - works fine except lane 5. I looked at it a few days ago, and the idler was tilted as a part had fallen out, so assumed that was the problem. Fixed that and lane 5 worked. Now in the middle of the print, it stopped working again. I can manually feed the filament through and I see everything is turning as intended, so not sure what the issue is. The filament is straight in line with the teeth and it doesn't matter what filament I use.
I haven't used my MMU2 in at least a year and I am thinking I had this same problem on the old one. Which means it's either the pulleys themselves (nope, not loose or slipping) or the motor, as those are the only things carried over. Anyone else seen this? I have a spare filament pulley so will pull it apart and try that.
RE: Lane 5 not pulling in filament
Just an update, I took the whole thing apart and put it back together and so far it's working? If it messes up again I'll get some new pulleys- can't think of what else it could be, maybe just worn out.
RE: Lane 5 not pulling in filament
Swapped out the pulley into another slot and now that one doesn't work - I do have R4 for everything. I can get it to work most of the time by cranking the tension screws to the max, but I know that's not the thing to do. I've ordered another pulley -looks fine to me, but what do I know?
RE: Lane 5 not pulling in filament
Just print out a new tensioner pulley (that's the cylinder that holds the bearings). Either download the R4 version from Prusa or there is a fixed version here. Two mounts are shown, one with repaired holes for position 1 and 5, the other version has even tighter holes, but shafts with bearings can still be pressed into them.
RE: Lane 5 not pulling in filament
I am on r4 already, but if a new pulley doesn't fix it I can try the fixed idler. I really hate having to try to get those bearings out again - maybe I will just get more of those too. 🙂
