Hi Nick,

my situation is similar to yours. I tend to change the PTFE tube anyway, because if I skip that step it will be really a long way to return later and change the PTFE tube when things might not work as expected.

I had to repair the hotend already and I know what the PTFE tube looked like a few weeks ago when I held it in my hands.

My printer required the replacement PTFE tube, but it is over two years old, had the MMU2S on it prior (so many retractions across the tube), and saw a LOT of printing. So you may not need to do so at this point.

It may be worth it to perform the step now, however,  just so you can get some practice with the process. I asked support what the maintenance schedule for the extruder PTFE tube should be, and their recommendation was to check for wear every 3 months depending on your volume of usage, or when you see (new) filament tip stringing or sticking in the Bowden tube.

Thanks Amethyst_3D and HappyKatz! Unfortunately, I couldn't wait (as one who probably would have taken one cookie now rather than getting two cookies later in that psychology study) and decided to make an executive decision to press on. Based on the huge usage of the printer mentioned in the instructions, I picked the quick, easy, and optimistic (though likely wrong) approach of going with my existing fairly new PTFE tube. I'm finishing the calibration tonight and hoping to do the test run tomorrow. Yes, I'll probably regret not waiting for the gurus to reply... my bad! Thx again.

I didn't replace mine it's fairly easy to do when it needs doing
