Which wire is power?

Hello all,

I want to install a small switch to easily bypass the MMU2S when starting the printer, but I can't figure out which wire is the correct one to attach the switch to. I read somewhere that it was a brown wire in the first bundle (attached pic), but I tried that and it didn't work, so I decided to ask here before cutting any more wires.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Mauro

RE: Which wire is power?

The connector you have with the arrow is data.  The one with red/black is power.  I was simply pulling the power one out, but it was a pain so I installed a switch to do it.  The switch housing is in the prints section and there are unused screw holes on the frame which almost seem to be intended for such a thing.

I break both the black and red using a DPST switch.  I've had very good luck doing it that way.  Breaking only the red allows some phantom power via the data cable.  Breaking both disables it totally.

There are two pairs of red and black.

Can I cut either of the red pair and black pair and install the DPST switch?

Thanks in advance.

Just treat the two black wires as one conductor and the two red wires as the other conductor.

Break all four of them, twist the corresponding red and black together in pairs, and break each pair with a pole of the DPST switch.
