Hello community!

I installed the volcano mod on my MK3S (using Martins full volume mod, no firmware changes) and had wonderful results. My MK3S was reliable I can run it with my eyes closed.

As soon as I added the MMU2S everything changed. I know there needs to be different settings modified in PrusaSlicer and I am new so any feedback from successful users would be great. 

The main issues are:

1- filament gets stuck inside the extruder and does not come up so I have to force pull it up,

For the plain V6 Prusa uses a modified heat break that has a step in it. The only thing that seems to be known is it is "to support the MMU". Guessing that your break is straight through and maybe that is the issue here. 

2-MMU2S keeps trying to load and nothing happens even though the FINDA detects the filament. 

3- the printer thinks the filament is loaded correctly from the unit down to the extruder but there is nothing there.

Are you sure you got the extruder clear after the last jam? Maybe there is enough debris left to trip the IR sensor which could make it think it is already loaded. 

Alternatively, some of us have had issues with the door on the extruder not playing nice and giving weird status values. You might play around with your door and see if you are having and issues. 

4- the filament keeps getting stuck just before the FINDA under the gears so it can’t even go into the FINDA. No matter which way I cut the filament to make it pointy. 

Make sure the filament is as straight as you can make it. Try reducing the tension on the screws holding the idler closed. 

Since loosening the tension on the idler cover I've had far less issues loading filament. A slight redesign to make the input on the selector side of the idler a little larger would probably go a long way towards reducing load errors.

It's been tried before with little to no success.

The main issue is that the Volcano has a much larger melt zone, which means that it is not possible to purge and unload sufficient material.  This leads to filament remnants being retained in the heat break and PTFE which then cause blockages on the next load.  It can also cause very long strings which build up and prevent loading in the "Bowden".
