OctoPi Version 0.16.0 - MK3S/MMU2S Firmware Version 3.7.0 (1.0.5)

I have been reading that the new firmware has issues with OctoPi.  I am running an i3 MK3S with the MMU2S.  I have a raspberry pi zero-w and have everything ready to mount it on the Rambo board, but am hesitant to do so because of the issues I am hearing about Octoprint and the MMU2S and the new firmware.  Is anyone running the above versions successfully?  I would like some background before I install the board to alleviate any unnecessary headaches.

Thanks!

Bill

Dump the Zero and get a 3.  Huge difference.

Yea alan is right. I had a zero first, according to the prusa tutorial. It will work, but it is on its limits.
When I was doing timelaps with octolaps the print time exploded to about double and more and the print quality decreased.
After viviting the octoprint homepage I found out the discourage the use of a zero board and recommend a 3B or 3B+ instead.
So I bought me a 3B+ did all the installations and what should I say, all is running smoothly when doing timelaps.
Print quality is up and printing time extends only for the time it takes to do the pictures about 3 seconds more per picture!
I have to add I'm using a DSLR camera connected to the USB port of the raspberry 3B+ and triggered over octolaps --> working perfekt!

@emanuele-c3

Hi, same behavior, color change with Octi does not happen.
I printed the same gcode from Octi and from the SD card, from the card it works but not from Octi.

Version 0.16.0, running on Raspberry Pi 3 Model B Plus Rev 1.3

@robd

Have you configured your printer profile in OctoPrint for multiple extruders?

Apparently people having MMU issues if not set correctly in the OctoPrint printer profile

@engarde

hi, I have checked the printer profile, there is nothing to set for MMU, Multiple extruders is not MMU, right ?
.
Before the last update it was working, I did not change anything.
cheers

Checked the settings, uploaded gcode is not affected
This information is used for the graph and controls available in the "Temperature" tab, the GCODE viewer and when slicing from within OctoPrint.

It does NOT influence already sliced files that you upload to OctoPrint!

@robd

The statement was that octoprint refuses to send T commands for safety reasons. Try to change it to 5 extruders and shared. That would allow for T0 to T4

@michael-t66

Yes, I changed to 5 and shared, but as described it should not influence uploaded gcode.
So, I am confused on the fact that a print with gcode created by prusaslicer handled by Octi
does not change the color whereas the same gcode is correctly printed via sdcard.

@robd

Maybe I got it wrong. In my understanding the octoprint gcode is the same as on the sdcard. But octoprint simply does not transmit T commands although being in the file. The result should match the experience I had before I left for holiday.

Ok, came home, corrected both PRUSA MMU2s printers to 5 extrudes shared and all prints went flawless their way. Meanwhile I had a look at the octoprint forum and it seems to be a big topic there as well. It is mainly about sanity check, a new feature. I personally ignored it all the way and it caused printer resets or no color changes and so on. I just couldn´t really trace it back as one was in a long print anyways with a previous OP version, the other one was mainly printing functional parts in MMU mode with just one color. If I remember correctly: As long as it had the right color chosen it just reset itself occasionally, but did print sometimes. Hence the blurry failure search.
