Hello,

I'm planning to build an enclosure from IKEA Lack tables based on this tutorial.

Can anybody tell me, if the MK3 with an assembled Multi Material extension (just ordered) will fit? Or do I need to elongate the legs of the table by larger printed parts and use longer plexiglas windows?

Hi,

i converted the SCAD (except one carshing my FreeCAD 0.16) files to STEP and Fusion360 archive files, that may help to plan in Fusion360. https://github.com/3d-gussner/Original-Prusa-i3/tree/MMU2

The PTFE tube from the MMU2 selector to printer extruder is 360mm https://manual.prusa3d.com/Guide/3.+Electronics+assembly/757?lang=en#s12467
but in the MMU2 firmware there is an option to adjust the unloading length described in the handbook starting page 26 https://www.prusa3d.com/downloads/manual/prusa3d_manual_mmu2_eng_1_00.pdf?2

If you gonna need a longer PTFE you could find that in the firmware and adjust it.
The only issue is that the steel ball for the F.I.N.D.A. needs gravity to works so the MMU2 orientation matters. Also the feeling from the back could be challenging.

If I am not wrong saw/read something that Prusa may update the IKEA LACK design for MMU2

Hmm, nobody with a normal enclosure has build it so that rolls of filament could be placed behind the printer. Not because of space and not because of "reachability"...
I hope we can put the mmu2 including filament on top of the enclosure.
Has anybody tried this yet?

... looking at the available youtube videos: perhaps best is to put only the 5 filament rolls on top?

I recently build an enlarged version of the enclosure. My version is 10 cm higher, because I created extensions for the legs aof the Lack table. I planned this before I ordered the plexiglas. Hopefully, I will now have enough space fur the MMU2 in the enclosure and can put the spools on top.

On the Prusa Blog Mikolas Zuza, from Prusa, has stated:

We’re working on an updated enclosure design for the MMU, where the spools are mounted on top of the enclosure. So they can be mounted differently, but the vast majority of testing has been done with the spools behind the printer.

Wow 40 cm behind the printer! I don't have that kind of space without an enclosure. Hope they can make it work by going above the printer, this seems like a big miss in the testing if that hasn't been tried yet.

Has there been an update to the Lack table enclosure design with the MMU2? The enclosure looks awesome, but I'd like to make my modifications to accommodate the MMU right away.

Hey guys,
I just gave it a try and use the original design with the MMU.

I drilled 5 holes in the back acrylic and its done
Works like a charm.

Might want to check and make sure the PTFE tube doesn't get kinked or pinched.

Thanks for the pics..is it an annoyance to have your mmu unit so close to the top? Is it difficult to access?

A little bit, especially with problems with the MMU. I tend to print without enclosure if I'm using the MMU, is a little easier.

I have created some parts to make it easier to access the MMU in the enclosure. It also should make it possible to print at max height in the enclosure.

I didn't like the Lack anyway, so with MMU 2.0 I changed my enclosure to a server rack.
