Bondtech MK3S on MMU2S Thingiverse sensor mount

After nonstop issues with all the S mods on printer and MMU2S I decided to try out the Bondtech extruder with hopes it is better than the Prusa design.  I'm having a little buyers remorse as I have doubts about feeding filament into the Bondtech thru a tiny feed hole.  I'm using the https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3565326 design for IR sensor.  I would love some tips to get this thing to work.  I have it installed but can't pass IR sensor selftest portion.  Does anyone use the MMU2S with this extruder?

RE: Bondtech MK3S on MMU2S Thingiverse sensor mount

I am running the Bondtech Mosquito on mine.  I just uploaded the .stl's for the parts I used to make mine work on thingiverse https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3960624/files .  As stated on thingiverse, the flag on the lever I used has to be filed to work with the sensor.  I intended to go back and alter the design so that it works as printed, but have not taken the time to measure the dimensions on mine and come up with a final design.  Hope this helps.

I have bondtech bmg with mmu2s. I bought it because i was having problems with heat creep using 0.25 nozzle and printing .07 miniature size prints (i printed fans shrouds and added heatsink but nothing solved it). It really improved the result and in fact eliminated heat creep. Now as far as mmu2s goes there is no real improvement. MMU2s problems are still there. There is a small con. The way is designed it needs a little more work to take the extruder out (if you need to change something) that prusas one. Overall i prefer it and the geared approach is making all the difference when facing heat problems, but i'm not sure i would buy it if i didnt have that specific issue. Keep in mind that if you choose to buy it and use it with mmu2s you must change the filament parking position (Printer settings tab>single extruder MM setup). I use 85 with an extra loading distance of -10 (others use 85,-6.5). Actually this is another small con since when i use the automatic filament "run out" change i cannot set this (since it considers it to be single material printing) and sometimes it fails to unload the previous filament completely.

Can you post a picture(s) of how this installs and how it is installed.  I have a similar tensioner with a flag that goes between the ears of the IR sensor that looks very similar.  The version I'm using is in my subject description.  I am making similar modifications so the 4mm OD tube OD chamfer goes through and bottoms out with a matching ID chamfer.  I hope these pass thru mods make the filament passage straight and true so it loads properly.

@collin-d

Here is a couple pics of mine.  I uploaded a V2 lever to thingiverse tonight that is a direct bolt on without needing to file it for adjustment.  Working perfect on mine so far with pla, will see how it does with tpu later.

@allen-m2

Thanks for the pictures.  I am using the Thingiverse version. Yours looks like the Mini Factory solution.  If I don't get what I started with I will certainly give this one a whirl.  I plan to do a pass thru approach and have the od chamfered tube mate with a similar chamfer on the opening.  I hope that will be a smooth transition.

Thanks again.

@collin-d

Let me know if you have any questions.  My PTFE extends down about 37mm from the release ring on the connector.  There is a chamfered transition at the bottom that feeds the filament in to the extruder.

I'm assuming I need a new firmware update for the Bondtech and MMU2S.  Does someone have a link.  I used this about 2 years ago and am getting ready to hook the MMU2S back on.  Is there an intermediate piece I need to install on top of my extruder
