Problems Printing PETG

Hi guys.

I'm running mk3s and mmu2s alongside DasFilament PETG.
First I tried painters tape but experienced heavy warping so I tried window cleaner next as described at https://www.prusa3d.com/material-guides/ which was a huge mistake!
Now my part did not only warp but as well took the PEI sticker with it where it lifted from the build plate!
How can that happen, sticking too well but don't sticking enough?
Everywhere I read it says easy to print and low warping but I get the total opposide...

I hope there is help for me here!

Hi

Actually  I only use the textured powder coated sheet, it's really a great improvement, but I had the same problem with the PEI sheet and PETG with my first prints, did not stick with the correct first layer height, sticking too much when reducing layer height, the result was a damaged PEI sheet.

I replaced the PEI stickers and afterward I always use Dimafix spray, it solved all this kind of problems, stick well with a correct layer height, near no warping, easy remove when cold, easy cleaning with water.

All other recommended cleaning procedures I tried were not reliable.

Hi Andre, thank you for you comment.
I will try the Dimafix spray!
First you said you only use the powder coated sheet, then you say you replaced the PEI sticker.
What do you actually use, if not both?

"did not stick with the correct first layer height, sticking too much when reducing layer height, the result was a damaged PEI sheet"
I whish that was the case with my prints as well but I can't choose! My print warps and damagse the PEI sheet in one print!
And only at the places where it lifts off the bed it pulls the PEI...

Hi timo,

When you tried the powder coated sheet, like me you will easily forget the PEI sheet.

The PEI sticker lift generally in the corners, you will see like air bubbles between the sticker and the steel sheet, it's ok, just reverse the sheet for the next print, it's regenerating itself.

Not sure of your bed temp, but I learned, if you are warping with PETG, your bed temp may not be high enough and if your warping with PLA, your bed temp is too high. Of course, that is just one reason among many for warping.

I agree with andre. Once I got my PC sheet, I always use it for PETG now. Just remember to let it cool fully and it releases on its own with no effort.

Well 3 days of PETG printing later and I can tell you there is more fear about PEI destruction then is good for us printers!
Since my last post I have printed like with PLA without any issues.
I cleaned the bed with isopropanol, measured the extrusion factor by extruding 10mm and afterwards reduced the flow to 91%.
My print settings were matched to fit the Prusament PETG settings but dependant on Das Filament PETG so I use 235° for the nozzle and 75° for the bed for the first layer and the change to 240° and 80° as well as no fan for the first 3 layers and a speed of 1-15 %.
So far I neither experienced warping nor any damage to the PEI and the prints pop right off even without letting it cool down.

RE: Problems Printing PETG

my experience with warping so far was nearly always a breeze of cooler air coming in from somewhere, i even had PLA prints warp to a nearly 45° angle when the window next to the printer was open.

Stable temperatures around the printer are really important especially for larger prints.
