MMU2 doesn't switch extruder but stays on filament 1 during multicolor-prints
Until yesterday the MK3S - MMU2 worked and I made a few prints with different colors.
Since today the filament/extruder doesn't change when using multicolor-gcodes:
- simple 5 cube test generated with OPENscad and sliced with PrusaSlicer
- downloaded gcodes for sheep (2 colors) or lizard (3 colors).
All prints succeed (even the behaviour while printing the waste tower ist identical) but the filament will not change.
--------------------------
I reset the printer, the MMU, recalibrated everything and finally reflashed the latest firmware.
Still no filament/extruder change.
Any idea why this happens? Thanks in advance

More info: I made a testobject with only two cubes and assigned extruders 3 and 4. With these it results in a correct two color print.
So why doesn't this work if I use filament 1?

I am having the same problem. Testing extruder 3 and 4 now.
RE: MMU2 doesn't switch extruder but stays on filament 1 during multicolor-prints
Update: I'm not getting any tool change at all. Doesn't matter which extruder I select in the slicer. Doesn't work with pre-sliced gcode in the Prusa test prints either.
RE: MMU2 doesn't switch extruder but stays on filament 1 during multicolor-prints
Fixed my issue. When serving through Octoprint, after upgrading from MK3S to MK3S/MMU2S, I did not update the printer profile with the correct number of extruders. Finally got a successful multi-color print. Sounds unrelated to the OP's problem considering they got theirs to work for some extruders, but hopefully this helps some other noob like me. 🙂
RE: MMU2 doesn't switch extruder but stays on filament 1 during multicolor-prints
After testing without extruder 1 everything worked. So in the early morning I tried with 1 again (after recalibrating "bowden lenght" for each) - it works. After the testprint with 5 cubes I will try other prints again.
Something yesterday was completely wrong. But I do not understand what really happened here.
So no I can start again to fight with the many other problems with MMU2.
RE: MMU2 doesn't switch extruder but stays on filament 1 during multicolor-prints
there is no need to "calibrate" the bowden length on a MMU2S as the MMU2s uses the IR sensor to detect the extruder grabbing the filament.

Same problem here - I'm very concerned about my new purchase.
