Different material supports

So i'm trying to print the following:

Its a two color print and i wanted to use a third for the supports since i have more of that one to waste. Its all PLA. For some reason Slic3r doesn't let me set the extruder for the support material. When i try changing it it says the following:

So when i slice a multi material print that needs support, it will generate the supports AND the wipe tower but, as seen in the second screenshot, it wont wipe when switching between the red and black so the printer won't ram, so it'll make strings and clog and so on so forth.

So, the error message, from what i understand, says it would have to trigger a tool change for it to support both the wipe tower AND the different material supports which is exactly what i want it to do, i want it to trigger that tool change but i seems to say its disabled or something. Is there any other setting i need to set to get a different material for supports that i might have missed?

Also, with this error it is literally impossible to make soluble supports, so i figure its a problem with the slicer because i know it should be possible.

And i cant even tell it to use black for both supports and the black part of the print so it wouldn't need to switch filament and wipe because it gives me that error message.

I have latest slicer software downloaded from the site just yesterday (1.41.3). Or at least i think so because i can't find a more recent one.

Please help.

Re: Different material supports

I'm no expert in MMU, but have you tried tricking Slic3r into thinking the material IS soluble? Not sure if that doesn't invoke some other issue, but might be worth trying.

I have. Here i try to change the extruder used for supports to 1 which is one in which i put a material i saved as soluble and PVA, while i have wipe tower enabled, and gives me the same error:

Re: Different material supports

You might want to read this: looks somewhat familiar... maybe it'll help?
https://github.com/prusa3d/Slic3r/issues/1716

You can post to Github, claim a defect - clearly define the issue you are seeing with instructions to reproduce (similar to what you have done here) - and there is a fair chance - generally - someone with deeper knowledge of the software operation will get back to you.

Here's my search:
https://github.com/prusa3d/Slic3r/search?p=2&q=soluble+support&type=Issues&unscoped_q=soluble+support

Deeper down I found this:

As of now the wipe tower is generated for the "Single extruder multi material" option only.

RE: Different material supports

I've done this with supports created in Meshmixer, then exported the supports and the file with overhangs as two separate .OBJ files. Then I import the two files into Slic3r and set the filaments as usual... It will take an insane amount of time with all tool changes, but it works!
