Is this sound normal when loading?

Re: Weird noise when loading

For me loading part sounds nice but the unload-rattle has me concerned. I also experience this unload-rattle and it might cause gridning?

Still can't figure it out, I think it's the bearing rattling now after watching it a bunch.

Re: Weird noise when loading

Did you ever find out what was causing the ratteling noise? I have the same problem..

The strange thing is, when i do the calibrating of the filaments in the service menu, the loading and unloading goes off without any vibrations or noise.. smooth as butter... Only when I'm printing, the noise is there.. and vibrations..

I have messed alot with load speed settings and such, without any luck.. tried all the recommended settings, but still the noise is there..

Any help would be much appreciated..

Best regards,
Klaus - Norway.

I still have the issue, it doesn't seem to be causing failures but I do think it happens more when pulling out the filament which may be causing it not to reach all the way out the tube as fast as it could be.
I still think the bearing is moving back and forth in there causing the noise but it's really hard to see that area when it's happening.

I bet there are more people too but maybe we only care.

I contacted Prusa chat support about the issue, and he said he had to take a closer look and have some help with this incident, as it was very uncommon.
I uploaded a video for them to watch, and he said they would mail me a response. This was 2 days ago, and I haven't heard anything yet.. Will keep you posted though..

I am tempted to print the main body of the mmu2 from scratch, and see if there is some abnormality that causes the vibration.
The funny thing is tho, that it only happens when printing! When doing the filament calibration it moves the filament back and forth between the mmu2 and extruder with no vibration issue at all! That has me really stumped and which is why I am having problems with it being a hardware issue.

Klaus - Norway.

Re: Weird noise when loading

Just wanted to add that unloading sounds the same for me - was also wondering if that's missing steps or something (although that would make a lower sound I think).

I'm also experiencing something similar. Video attached. It didn't seem from this thread that anyone found a solution but it was a few months ago - anyone have any ideas or updates?Prusa loading noise

RE: Weird noise when loading

In the original video (sorry @zlsiegel, but I'm not downloading a random .mov file) it looks like the door bolts might be a little tight. In my case I've found that it seems to like to be pretty loose.

Also, without seeing the whole setup, I would look into friction/drag points between the spools and MMU. I found that my MMU doesn't not like the least little bit of drag on the filament.
