updating MMU2 firmware from 1.0.5 to 1.0.6 and restoring brickec MMU2
i tried to upgrade the MMU2 to 1.0.6. it kept failing. first could not write to the device, then i relaunched with sudo and it still failed.
someone on another topic suggest that the printer needs to be rebooed and flashed while the mmu2 is blinking.
tried that, got farther, eventually had some error in the lfuse.
eventually canceled job. now its got nothing.
Surely there's a better way to flash this board than this magic timing trick?
and how does one restore it now?

easy answer - no linux user wants to hear - use windows 🙂

same issue on ubuntu using the .appimage version of prusaSlic3r. Interestingly my machine now reports v1.0.6 even though it failed...

wish i could say that. mine reports NA in the console now. at this point, i don't know, i'm thinking of trying the following things in order:
- try using avrdude to flash it with that -f flag, assuming i can get all the args right, over the usb cable;
- if that fails, try doing a "factory reset" if the dance they've published on knowledge base is accurate; then try using either Slicer or avrdude to load it again;
- if that fails, dig out a Programmer, open up the part and see if there is a place to connect the Programmer do.
I gotta say, this is just one more thing to frustrate me about the MMU2. I've been pretty disappointed in its abilities, and now finding it to be so awkward just to update the firmware - its not up to the standards of the rest of the hardware/software. so - any clue and tips are welcome. I did just apply a modified part that let me put solid connectors on the back - haven't even had a chance to try it out!
