Slic3r time estimate

Hi,

I recently got the MMU 2.0 and after a successful sheep print (Prusa gcode), I'm looking at slicing the striped lizard myself.
On the Prusa page it says the time estimate for the lizard is about 3h40min. for 0.2 mm layer height with three materials. The time estimate slic3r gives me with all of the standard settings is 6h11min with a normal wipe tower and 6h6min if I wipe into infill.
I'm using the latest firmware and Slic3r 1.41.0+

Does anyone know what the difference might be? I'd really like to improve my slic3r skills. 😎 Really impressed with the MMU 2.0 so far!

There's lots of things which might be different between the presliced gcode and your Slic3r settings, though three hours is a big difference if the layer height and number of materials is the same.

The most important determinant of how long an MMU print takes is how many material changes are in your model. Unfortunately Slic3r doesn't tell you that (not in the current version--it will probably be added to a new version). So if I had to guess I'd say that something about the way you're setting up your model is creating a lot more material changes than the one Prusa sliced.

RE: Slic3r time estimate

Did you ever figure this out?  I'm having the same problem.  I'm using the default settings with Prusament PLA.  My suspicion is that if I tried to slice any of the other models that folks have pre-generated gcodes for in the Prusa bundle, I would see something similar (i.e. my print time estimates being almost twice as long).

Thanks,

Trinity
