Single Mode not asking for filament choice, instead doing filament-change

My Mk3 / MMU2 build seems to have been relatively successful. I managed to print the 2-colour benchy. It had two or three interruptions requiring manual intervention, but I believe they were my fault, and they allowed me to learn more about the behaviour of the MMU2.

Problem: When I try to start a simple, single-filament print, the printer does not ask me which filament I'd like to use. Instead, it goes into 'filament change' mode for position 1.

Details: After the printer heats up the nozzle / bed and does 9 point calibration as usual, the selector then moves off to the right and filament is pushed about 10cm out of position 1 (not through the selector, but next to it). The screen then asks me to unload the filament and press the knob. If I play along, pulling the filament out back towards the spool and reloading it, the printer then extrudes filament for a while and asks me whether the output has the expected colour. I say 'yes', and then the print starts, using filament 1.

So I never get a choice of filament, and the printer goes through an unnecessary filament change procedure.

(Edit: Oh, and after the print, the filament doesn't automatically unload from the extruder. I'm not sure it's supposed to. But it would make sense with the MMU in the picture.)

Some help would be appreciated!

Firmware:

Main board: 3.4.2-1360
MMU2 board: 1.0.2-132

I dont know if you found answer yet , but this is what I have done , I went back to slicer and left it in Multi material mmu2 , and selected the filament 5 , which in my case PETG , I wanted print single mode .. Click on Object and select extruder .. So far this works ..

Are you printing from Octoprint or Sd card?

Sorry for not getting back to this topic, but I recently figured it out. I was printing old gcode before. It made sense in my head (and it still kind of does) that the new MMU2-enhanced printer would be able to recognise and deal with those properly.

But apparently I have to create new gcode in "MMU2 single filament mode". That seems to work.

Thanks!
