Printing Your Own Upgrade

So, I've gone ahead and printed all the parts for the MMU2S upgrade (a combination of MK3S extruder upgrade parts and replacing three of those parts with the five MMU2S parts located here: https://github.com/prusa3d/Original-Prusa-i3/tree/MK3S/Printed-Parts/STL ). Since the MMU2S doesn't need the ball bearing or magnets, I'm wondering if I already have everything needed to upgrade the extruder. That is, if the optical filament sensor is that same as from the MK3 kit. I haven't yet committed to tearing down the existing extruder, but will look at doing so this weekend. I'm sure I have enough bolts and nuts to put the new one together.
If I'm correct, and the sensor is the same, I should be able to be up and running with everything upgraded except for the new filament buffer box.
Fingers crossed.

No, the Mk3 sensor is not the same. You will need a Mk3S sensor instead, or the official upgrade kit.

Well damn! There goes that brief moment of excited hope. 🙁

At least I didn't tear down my working extruder to find out. Back to the wait....

Not sure how well it will work since you have an MMU and I believe the 2S requires the IR sensor for the bondtech door mod, but there is a modified version of the R4 parts that is designed to use the old laser sensor.
